(NORTHFIELD, VERMONT) December 3, 2013 – Long time Thunder Road Speedbowl and ACT Late Model team, Hallstrom Motorsports, is putting the plans in place for a huge 2014 season.  Defending Champion in the Thunder Road Tiger Sportsman class, Shawn Fleury, will make the move to the Late Model division in 2014, driving the VTcars.com #1 Late Model for Hallstrom Motorsports.  The team will run the full schedule at Thunder Road Speedbowl in the Late Model division along with select events on the American Canadian Tour.

In their six seasons competing at Thunder Road Speedbowl, Hallstrom Motorsports has continued to improve upon themselves, with 2014 setting up to the their best season to date.  Shawn Fleury brings to the team a great history of success at the Speedbowl racing in the Tiger Sportsman division and the Late Models.

“I’m excited for next year,” explained Shawn Fleury.  “This is a great opportunity for me in the best equipment I’ve ever been in.  Happy to have VTcars.com on board and we’re also going to be doing some charity work with Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.  The team is really behind me and it’s a great feeling to have heading into the off-season.”

Fleury is the three-time and defending champion of the Thunder Road Speedbowl Tiger Sportsman division, with 14 feature victories to his credit.  Shawn has totaled 59 top-five’s and 117 top-ten finishes in his 243 starts over his 20 year career racing at the Speedbowl.  In 2013, Fleury added one win to his career total en-route to winning his third career Tiger Sportsman Championship.

“I’m so proud and excited to have Shawn behind the wheel of our Late Model for the 2014 season,” explained team owner, Louis Hallstrom.  “Shawn’s racing talent brings a new level of anticipation during the off-season for our team as we prepare for our best year ever at Thunder Road and in the ACT.”

Hallstrom Motorsports would also like to announce its new partnership with VTcars.com for 2014.  VTCars.com is central Vermont’s online marketplace to shop for used cars & used trucks. Located in Berlin, VT, just down the road from Montpelier, the VTCars.com auto group is home to 802 Toyota, 802 Scion, and Twin City Subaru.

Also in 2014, Shawn Fleury and Hallstrom Motorsports will work with Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, a loving place where children from Vermont and New York who have, or have had cancer can play, swim, share, and heal.  Camp Ta-Kum-Ta is where kids go to reclaim a childhood robbed by cancer.  Founded in 1984, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta was established through the efforts of Ted and Debby Kessler to recreate the mind and body healing experiences their son Todd, had received at a cancer camp in New York State.

“Working with Camp Ta-Kum-Ta next season is something I am really looking forward to,” stated Lisa Hallstrom.  “Being able to give back to these kids that haven’t been able to live a normal childhood is going to be an awesome experience and hopefully we can help send many, many children to camp.”
