Andrew Gressel keeps winning streak alive at Summer Rush 1

Location: Kawartha Speedway June 1, 2014

What won the race: After pitting on lap one of the feature event to repair fender damage, Andrew worked his way through the field. Taking the lead away from #17 Kevin Cornelius near the midpoint of the event, the #81 went unchallenged to pick up his first feature win of the 2014 season

Bad Luck of the event: #7 of Derrick Tiemersma suffered heavy damage in heat race action. #22 Glenn Watson and #39 Shane Gowan both received extensive race ending damage in separate incidents. Rookie contender #82 of Corey Jones continues to fight bad luck relegating him to a 21st place finish.

Rookie Battle: All five Rookie of the Year candidates were in attendance. At the end of the feature event it was the #b10 of Kelly Balson finishing eighth and the top rookie of the event. #24 Scott Field placed thirteenth, #71Ethan Cournyea was sixteenth, #44 Dave Doucette was nineteenth and #82 Corey Jones was twenty first.

Defending Modified Champion Gary Mclean picks up first feature of 2014:

Location: Kawartha Speedway, Fraserville Ont. June 1 2014

What won the race: Gary Mclean and his #8 team used their outside pole position to pick up their first Hanover Holidays Modified feature event. Throughout the 25 lap feature event, Gary was able to hold off all challenges from the #14 od Davey Terry and #82 Justin DeMelo. After contact between the #14 and #82 which sent booth to the back, Gary was able to hold off Rookie Contenders #91N Max Beyore and #26 Kevin Jobb for the win and regain the points lead.

Drivers on the Move: Making his first ever Hanover Modified start the #26 of Kevin Jobb started the feature event in nineteenth position. When the checker flag flew the #26 had moved up an impressive 16 spots to record his first ever podium finish. #36 Gary Elliot was able to move up nine spots to record a top ten finish position. #88r Tommy Robb improved his starting spot by eight positions when the checker flag waved Bad Luck of the Event: Rookie of the year contender #99 Drew Stieler continues to have bad racing luck, after an impressive qualifying effort the team finished 19th in the feature event. #39 Shane Stickle was the innocent victim of a crash that took away his top five hopes.

Rookie Battle: Seven Hanover Holiday Modified Rookies where in attendance. The top rookie of the event was the #91n of Max Beyore in second place. #26 Kevin Jobb was third, #88r Tommy Rodd recorded a fifth place finish. #77 Chad Strawn was eighth, #61 Dustin Jackson was eleventh, #89 Jessica Spicer was sixteenth and #99 Drew Stieler was nineteenth

Andy Kamrath wins Mini Stock Nationals at Summer Rush 1:

Location: Kawartha Speedway, Fraserville Ont. June 1 2014

What won the race: The #35k of Andy Kamrath proved during the qualifying heats that he would be the car to beat for the win. Andy quickly moved his Honda to the front of the 33 car field and held off all challenges of the star studded field to win the first ever Mini Stock Nationals event part of Summer Rush 1 event at Kawartha Speedway. With drivers knowing what it will take to win on July 13th, round 2 of the Mini Stock Nationals will be even more exciting.

Drivers on the Move: #12 of Brandt Graham started the feature event buried deep in the starting field in thirty first position. After 30 laps Brandt was able to move up an impressive fifteen starting spots. Local favorite coming into this event was #41 Tyler Junkin who started the feature in seventeenth position. At the end of the day Tyler pleased his fans improving his starting spot by ten positions to record a top ten finish.

Bad Luck of the Event: Local mini stock driver and early prerace favorite #99 Chris Mulders did not get a chance to show case his talent in the feature event. A hard crash in qualifying side lined the Farm Bro racing team for the afternoon. If the team is able to make repairs for the July 13th event, Chris will be racing hard for that checker flag. Long-time Kawartha Speedway supporter, #57x Rob Flindall came out of retirement for two events in 2014, the Summer Rush events. A solid qualifying effort say Rob starting in 12th place but after being involved with in an accident the team was placed a disappointing twenty eighth place.
