Missy Morgan of Lewiston, ME. is racing in the Ladies Division at Oxford Plains Speedway (OPS) on Wednesday Nights. This past Wednesday Missy drove her race car straight to victory lane. “My first win this season was probably the best one yet! I worked really hard for it and it was such a fun race to be in!”
Missy recaps the last few laps of the race, “The last 7 laps were pretty intense, I was in 4th for most of it then I just kept talking to myself through each corner trying to keep a good rhythm going. I definitely had to work for it.”
Missy start the night off with some problems with the race car, “Well the best part of all this is the intended car that I brought and tanked in the heat race with was having some issues and wasn’t going to make the feature. The gentleman that purchased my car from last year was there and offered for me to drive it. So without any practice nor had I been in that car at all during the day, I jumped right in it. It was awesome!”
Missy is just one member of their racing family. “Yes, my husband (Corey Morgan), and I both race at OPS and he also races at Wiscasset and we have 2 kids racing Karts at Richmond Karting Speedway.”
Racing for a number of years at OPS, Missy definitely know how to get around the track, “You know there is no real key to getting around OPS, I remember my first year I got some good advice from Billy Child’s Sr., sometimes slower is faster. I guess it has just stuck. I’ll admit I’m still learning and taking advice. But being in a racecar is so much fun!!”
Missy will be busy this race season, “I’ll be racing every Wednesday at OPS (weather permitting) and I’ll be trying to get some seat time racing some Friday nights with the Outlaw Sportsman.”
