The Benjamin Motorports team came into this past weekend with a lot of momentum on there side after winning the Oxford 250 and finishing 3rd at Speedway 95 in there last two races. So the team had very high hopes of winning at the RE/Max 250. After practice the team was as high as second on the speed charts and after starting 6th in the qualifying race and finishing 2nd the team was really excited to get the 250 underway. The forcast didn’t look good and the rains came and the team would have to wait till Monday morning to get the race underway.
On Monday morning the sun was out and the race would get underway around 10 am. At the start of the race Travis would make his way up to 3rd from his 5th place starting position and would ride there for a while. Than taking over 2nd place, when the first caution came out on lap 70. That would give Travis the opportunity he was looking for to take the lead. Travis would lead for awhile and when the caution came out on lap 180 Travis was in 2nd and let the team change four tires and make an adjustment. After the caution the 17 car would start 5th and in less than 10 laps Travis was back in the lead. Travis would battle with one of the best short track racers (Ben Rowe) for the last 50 laps and Travis would come across the line on lap 250 as the winner of the race.
“What an awesome day!! I’ve tried to win this race about 7 times now and finally to win this race is a dream come true. Its in the heart of Irving country which has been one of my biggest supporters for the past 14 years. Its unbelievable!!!” Travis said after the race.
