Brianna Bodman, of Cushing, ME has working hard in the off season to get ready for the upcoming race seasons at Oxford Plains Speedway in the Cruisers Division, and at Wiscasset Speedway in the Enuro Division. “I’ve been working as a CNA 40+ hours a week to save up for this coming season.”
The Oxford Plains Speedway, 2015 race season for the Cruisers Div. begins Wednesday June, 10th and Wiscasset Speedway starts their Enduro race season May 9th. “I’m so ready for this season. I can’t wait. I plan on racing Wednesday nights at OPS and Saturday nights at Wiscasset and maybe a few Sundays at Unity.”
So what does Brianna like best about racing at OPS? “I love my racing family, my fans, I love the track.”
The Cruiser Div. races are schedule for Wednesday night under the lights as well as the Enduro races at Wiscasset Speedway. “I love racing anytime day or night, though day time is a little hard to race when the sun is out.”
Safety is always important when racing, whether you are in the pits or behind the wheel. Brianna got in a bad accident back on August 31,2013 at Wiscasset Speedway as she went 4 wide when things turned for the worse, she ended up going into the tires in corner one and rolling her car that night. “I’m so lucky that I was able to walk away from it with no serious injuries. It was so scary driving on a track you had never been on before with 30 something cars. When I finally realized I was headed for the tires I let go of the wheel and crossed my arms and closed my eyes. I never thought I was going to roll over.. but once I hit and felt the car starting to roll I was so scared. I don’t remember much after that.. not until I woke up to Jennifer Blackington saying” hey baby girl” I want to give a big thank you to Jennifer Blackington (lead EMT for the track) for being there for me when I crashed and, how important it is to have the safety equipment because it saved my life and, Wiscasset EMS for transporting me to the hospital…that it’s not easy going through any type of crash when your racing, cars are replaceable but I’m not.. I’m just glad that I only got bruising and no serious injury and also thank you Wayne Ripley for helping get me out of the car that night. It took my 6 months to get back in that same car. It wasn’t easy but it’s like a bike you fall off it and you get right back up.”
Brianna would like to thank her sponsors, Meklin Construction, Long Haul Trucking, Penobscot Air, Knox and Lincoln County Sheriff Departments for “Click it or Ticket”, and Dave’s World(Boss Hog)
“I’ve been racing for two years but I grew up around racing. I always looked up to the legends like Boss Hog and Darren Ripley and Billy Penfold. There are a few racers that I want to thank and that’s Gerald Freve and Deanna Bisbee. Of course my mom and my dad have played a big part in my racing career.. Thank you to all my fans for supporting me and I cannot wait for this 2015 racing season.”
