The 2013 PASS North Champion, Travis Benjamin of Morrill, Maine is gearing up for the PASS season opener at Oxford Plains Speedway, on April 18th. “My crew and I are really excited to get the 2015 season started at Oxford. Yes we have our car 95% done just need to put a set up in it.”
Travis has kept busy over the winter, “In the off season just working at Belfast Variety, playing some basketball and getting the go karts and car ready for the summer.”
Travis will be busy this season, “The plans for the Benjamin Motorsports race team this summer, is to run most if not all of the PASS Series we will also try to defend our title at the Re/Max 250 and we will be racing go karts as much as possible as well.”
The 2015 PASS Schedule is a busy one with 17 races at race tracks all across New England and Canada. “The schedule for the PASS is very exciting. I enjoy racing new tracks. We got some new tracks to run, Thunder Road, and Airborne Speedway and NHMS. It will be hard for us to run all 17 races but we will probably do most of them. NHMS will be exacting. It’s a great track and a lot of great people are involved with the track so it should be a lot of fun.”
On July 4th and 5th the Pro All Star Series will have its inaugural race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Though Travis has had some experience at NHMS racing the #93 Irving race car in the old Busch North Series. “NHMS back in the Busch series days was a lot of fun. The atmosphere was so great having the cup series with us. We haven’t had much success there in the past but we are in much better equipment these days so I’m expecting to be good there.”
In the off season, the drivers and race teams are busy working on the race car getting ready for the race season as well as looking for new sponsors. “I’ve been very fortunate this year to pick up Maine Glass Eels as a new sponsor. It’s great to have them come on board with us this year. Chris (the owner) and his family are big Pass fans and they are excited to be a part of our team and it’s great to have sponsors that enjoys motorsports. Hopefully we can get him and his company into victory lane!! Chris does truck pulls as well so it’s going to be fun to go and support him as well. We are still looking for more sponsors.”
Travis would like to thank his sponsors: Belfast Variety, Morrill General, Pepsi, Maine Glass Eels, Irving Oil, Reynolds Electric, Merrifield Painting, Cousineus Forest Products, Storyland, Doaks Machine Shop, Wilshire Electric.
