Vallee-Junction, Quebec – Joey Doiron had an impressive return to the Autodrome Chaudiere this past weekend, as he led 80 laps en-route to a runner up finish in the “Frameco 150” Pro All Stars Series North event. It was another strong performance for Doiron at one of his favorite race tracks, and he always enjoys going to race in Canada.
“Everyone up here treats us really well when we race here, and I really enjoy this track and be able to run our big motor, this place is a blast,” Joey said after the race, “I’m happy we ran so well but I really want a win here too, we will get it soon enough though if we keep running top three here.”
Starting fifth in his heat race, Doiron had to be aggressive to get through the field. It was a rough heat race, but after it was all said and done Doiron finished in the third spot to give him a seventh place starting spot for the 150 lap feature event. Right from the start, Doiron slid into the top five and rode there for much of the first laps. He was able to get up to fourth by the time the first yellow flew on lap 25. After the green flag flew again, Doiron went to third and battled with fellow Dale Shaw Racecars competitor DJ Shaw for the second spot. After Doiron cleared Shaw for second, he started to run down Cassius Clark before a yellow flag flew on lap 47. After the restart, Doiron took the race lead and started to drive away with Mike Rowe right behind him. Doiron was able to lead most of the race, 80 laps in total before Ben Rowe was able to get by after a late race restart. Doiron fought hard for second with Kevin Roberge, and prevailed as he grabbed yet another runner up finish at the Autodrome Chaudiere!
Doiron has been off to a great start to his 2015 PASS North season, and after three straight weeks of racing, and four out of the last five, the team will be back in action next weekend at the Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont on Sunday, May 24th. The Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic will be the first ever trip for the PASS North Series to one of New England’s most popular race tracks. You won’t want to miss this great event, get to the track to support the 73 JBJ Machine team and your local short track!
