Travis Benjamin Top 10 in PASS Historical Race at Thunder Road – http://www.travisbenjamin17.com/wp/travis-benjamin-top-10-in-pass-historical-race-at-thunder-road/
History was made this past weekend for the first time in the Pro All Stars Series. It was the first race in series history at Thunder Road Speedway in Barre Vermont. This would be Travis’ second start on the famous 1/4 mile high bank oval. Travis’ first start came there in 2001 in the Busch North Series. After the first round of practice the team was once again excited to get racing since they where second fastest and after the second practice the 17 car was fourth. The team knew they had a good car.
After drawing seventh out of eight cars in the qualifying race the team would only pick up one position in 15 laps and have to start 17th for the 150 lap feature. At the start of the feature Travis would quietly work his way inside the top 10. During the middle stage of the race Travis would play around and try to find where the racing grove was and would fall back outside the top 10. With 50 laps to go the 17 car was back on the bottom of the track and making its way to the front but when the race was over the best Travis would get was a seventh place finish. “The car was really good. I probably shouldn’t have gone to the top and try to save my tires but I watched some of the guy who have raced here a lot and that’s where they were running. So I went to the top but we lost a lot of track position. The race went the last 100 laps green so that hurt us starting so far back in the field. We had a good car and Im happy to come out of here in one piece.” Travis said after the race
Travis and team will be back in action in 3 weeks on June 14th at Speedway 95 in Bangor Maine.
