EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – With only two races left on the American Canadian Tour schedule, Emily Packard and her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels team is ready to return to Airborne Park Speedway this weekend for the Fall Foliage 200. “We have raced there two times already this season,” said Packard, “and it makes a difference to know the track as we head there.”
Packard has competed in the Fall Foliage race the last 2 seasons, finishing 11th (in 2013) and 15th (2014) and believes that she can have a good finish again this weekend. “We always have a good car and seem to run pretty decent here,” Packard said. “I hope we can get the car dialed in during practice and so I can go out and have a great run and finish as far up front as I can.”
The 18-year old currently sits fifth in the American Canadian Tour points, just 25 points out of 4th place with two points counting races left. “We are hoping for a good points race this weekend,” said Packard. “I would like to move up a spot in the points if I can, so a decent finish this weekend would be great. As the season starts to wind down I want to continue having fun and I hope to have a couple good finished to close the season out.” Emily is also fifth in the Bond Auto Parts New Champions Standings, with 78 points, just 3 points out of the fourth position. This program is designed to recognize those drivers that have not won more than one race on the American Canadian Tour prior to the 2015 season. The championship standings is a combination of drivers from both ACT and Série ACT, with awards being handed out to the top 5 in points at the end of the season.
This Saturday’s 41st Fall Foliage marks the final combination race between the American Canadian Tour and the Série ACT, where the Série ACT will crown their champion. The first ACT practice is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am with ACT Late Model heats scheduled to begin just after 2 pm.
