EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – It has been 23 years since the American Canadian Tour ran at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, five years before the 18 year old was even born, and this weekend marks the long awaited return of the series to the 5/8 mile, high banked oval. The ACT tour joins the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing this Saturday for the season finale of the American Canadian Tour, and Emily Packard and her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels 9x team is ready to go. “This is my first trip to Thompson,” said the East Montpelier native. “I have heard that it is a fast track with long straightaways and high banking. I am really excited and look forward to this weekend.”
Currently sitting fifth in the ACT championship battle, Packard is just three points out of the fourth place position going into this final race. “I am really hoping to gain that next spot,” Emily said. “I know that there is going to be a lot of competition there this weekend, with the ACT tour regulars as well as the Thompson weekly racers, so practice is going to be important. I am hoping for a good solid finish in the race; I want to end this season strong like we started and wrap up the season with a fourth place in the championship.”
The American Canadian Tour World Series 100 is part of the World Series weekend that features 15 different racing divisions.
