The Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) will return to the place where the series ran the inaugural race this Friday night, June 17.
The 1/3 mile Claremont Speedway located in Claremont, New Hampshire will be the site for the fourth GSPSS race of the season — the Twin State 100 — one that will pay $2,000 to the winner.
The first three of the season saw three different winners — Jacob Dore, Mike O’Sullivan & DJ Shaw — and there is no reason why a fourth different driver couldn’t sit in victory lane this Friday night.
Coming into the event, Belchertown, Mass. driver Barry Gray leads the series point standings over veteran Mike Parks and newcomer Mike Mitchell. Gray was a front-runner in both former GSPSS appearances at Claremont, finishing second in 2015 and leading laps in 2011 before being involved in a crash.
Reigning series champion Derek Griffith is the defending winner of the Claremont 100. In 2015, Griffith picked up his first career series victory in dominating fashion behind the wheel of his No. 12 — a win that propelled him to a championship season.
“I think last year at Claremont we were on the ball, Louie Mechalides (crew chief) sets up a rocket everywhere we go and I have full faith in him and his skills,” Griffith said. “I am looking forward to racing with Jeremy Davis and DJ Shaw again, those guys race you hard, but they race you clean, it’s great door-to-door racing. I really liked Claremont the last time, I hope we are as strong as we were when we won.”
Other entries for the 100 lap feature include Cory Casagrande, Glenn Martel, Mike O’Sullivan and many more competitors. All drivers who compete in the event will by vying for the $2,000 prize.
The pit gates open on Friday at 3:00 p.m., with practice to follow at 4:30 p.m. There will be a rotating practice session which was also include the regular Claremont divisions. Heat racing will go green at 7 p.m.
