400-opslogoOxford, Maine – Timmy Brackett of Buckfield nailed down his second victory of the season in the Budweiser Championship Series Super Late Model main event Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway, taking the championship points lead away from Dixfield’s Scott Robbins in the process.

Brackett, the reigning champion at the historic Route 26 oval, ended a streak of 13 different winners in the top Saturday night class this season.  He started the race from 10th position and quickly moved into contention behind early race leader Shawn Knight of South Paris and Hebron’s Alan Wilson.

Wilson and Knight, both seeking their first win of the season, were left to battle in Brackett’s wake, with Wilson claiming runner-up honors and Knight settling for third-place honors.  Gunnar Rowe of Turner crossed the line in fourth position, with TJ Brackett of Buckfield filling out the top five.

Calvin Rose, Jr. of Turner prevailed on a late-race restart to beat fellow Turner racer Matt Dufault by .037-seconds in a 30-lap Allens Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock race in a race almost too close to call with the naked eye.

Dufault got to the front early in the race using the third groove and nearly held the advantage until racing under the checkered flag, but Rose had just enough to cross the line a couple of inches ahead of Dufault.  David Whittier of West Poland outgunned Sabattus racer Jonathan Emerson for the final trophy.  Lisbon’s Rick Spaulding rounded out the top five.

Charlie ‘Chachy’ Hall of Oxford claimed a popular victory for the first time in the 20-lap Bandits division main event.  Hall led throughout the event, but it was no easy ride as he had to hold off multi-race winner and points leader Jamie Heath of Waterford for the second half of the race.

Hall and Heath were chased under the checkered flag by Tyler Green of Turner, Heath’s chief rival for the 2016 championship in the MacDonald Motors-sponsored class.  Joshua Knoll of Mechanic Falls was the fourth-place finisher, followed by Oxford’s Jacob Hall.

David Smith of South Paris outran Jon Lizotte of Lewiston to the checkered flag in the 15-lap Figure 8 race.  Kyle Kilgore of South Paris was third in the Ariens/Gravely-sponsored division.  Gale Williams of Auburn Township and Lisbon’s Robert Morey rounded out the top five.
