The 2018 race season is just around the corner and Kate Re of Lovell, Maine will be starting the next step in her racing career. “My plans for the 2018 season are to get as much seat time and learn as much as possible.   I’m excited to try something new and look forward to the season.”

There are a number of different types of race cars and series, so what made Kate decide to race modifieds, this season? “I’ve wanted to race a modified, ever since I started racing.  I like the open wheel style of a modified; I always liked racing the Champ karts when I had the chance, they have a similar open wheel style.”

In the off season Kate has been keeping busy, “During the off season I’ve been riding my snowmobile, spending time with family and friends and going to school.  I’m ready for the season to start, the off season is boring.”

The 2018 PASS Mod schedule will consist of 11 races at 3 different tracks. “The 2018 schedule is great for us.  Most all the races are at Oxford which is good because I’m not old enough to race at Beech Ridge yet and Oxford is close to home.  I’m looking forward to going to Bangor for the one PASS race and we might try to get to Wiscasset for a race or two, for seat time.”

The first PASS Modified race of the season will be at OPS on April 14th. “We’re almost ready, a few more things to do before we can hit the track.  I’m hoping for some practice time before opening day. “

So is racing in the PASS Mods a step towards the V Mods or Whelen Mods in the future for Kate? “Not really.  I’d like to try a larger mod if given the opportunity but after running the PASS Modified for a few years, my goal is to eventually run a super late and try to qualify for the Oxford 250.”

Staring a new style of race car, there is always a learning curve and advice from some of the fellow racers is always a good place to start. “I’ve received a lot of great advice from others drivers about racing this season, not only the modified but also advise about racing at Oxford.   Most everyone just tells me to have fun….and that’s easy to do!”

Kate would like to thank all her Sponsors – Worster’s Marine Center, Future Foods IGA, Krimco Snap-on, Albany Auto Sales, E & R Excavation, Mt Washington Valley Kustomz, Valley Collision, the Winchenbaugh Family, Drew Corporation, Richmond Karting Speedway, and Vacationland Campground.  I would also like to thank my Dad and Mom, and my crew, Mark Woodward and B.J. Morris for their help and support.
