Barre, VT – Thunder Road Speedbowl and American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials have announced the postponement of the Community Bank N.A. 150 due to poor ground conditions at the facility. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 6 at 1:30pm.
With just days remaining before the originally scheduled event date, Thunder Road is still feeling the effects of a seemingly never-ending winter. Despite the warmer conditions of the past few days, significant amounts of snow, water, and frost remain at the track, making it unpassable for teams and fans. With rain in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday that will likely worsen the situation, the decision was made to reschedule the event.
“We’re pretty sure the groundhog saw two shadows this year and we got six weeks of winter for each one,” Thunder Road and ACT co-owner Cris Michaud. “People have been asking us whether they’ll be able to camp this weekend, but unfortunately, the grounds are currently a lot worse than that. The conditions have also prevented us from doing the maintenance work that’s necessary in order to race. That being said, the forecast for next week looks promising. If that holds, we’re confident we’ll be able to have a great event on May 6.”
The announcement also includes the rescheduling of the annual Car Show. The event will now be held on Saturday, May 5 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. It has also been moved to the Thunder Road pit area due to pre-existing conflicts in downtown Barre.
The card for the season-opening Community Bank N.A. 150 will feature the ACT Late Model Tour plus Thunder Road’s Maplewood/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors. Admission for the May 6 event is $25 for adults and free for kids age 12 and under. The pits will open at 8:00am and the spectator gates will open at 10:00am.
