The Mercer cousins pulled off their second straight Enduro win of the 2013 racing season at Speedway 660 on Sunday afternoon. Chuck and Clifford, racing out of the Norton area, topped the 21 car field to earn a trip to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane.
“It was tough just trying to survive that final 50 laps out there today because things sure got pretty wild” said Cliff Mercer. “We had to work hard just to get our race car here today after we got beat up so bad in the first Enduro of the season.”
Brody Seveck finished second for the second straight Enduro, while Dale Gilbert drove to a third place finish. Seveck led the first 75 lap segment before the Mercer’s took the lead in the second segment.
“We had another pretty good run out here today and are happy to get another second place finish” said Brody Seveck. “The Mercer boys are tough, they’ve won two in a row and are the defending Enduro champs, but we’re gonna come back on SpeedWeekend to see if we can give them a battle for the 2013 championship.”
The third and final Enduro of the season is scheduled for Monday, September 2nd at 2pm. It will be the final race of SpeedWeekend and the final event of the racing season.
Next Saturday night (August 17th), Speedway 660 holds its second last point race of the season. There are tight championship battles in the West Wood Estate Apartments Bandolero, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter, DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock, Martins Home Heating Sportsman and RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock Divisions.
In less than two weeks, on Saturday, August 24th, Speedway 660 hosts Fan Appreciation Night of Champions. Then its SpeedWeekend from August 30th to September 2nd to wrap up the 2013 season.
