Scarborough, ME – Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team recorded their second straight top ten finish this past Saturday at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway to start the Pro All Stars Series North season. Doiron ended the “Southern Maine Motors 150” in the seventh position after starting from the 18th position. This is Doiron’s third consecutive top ten finish in the spring race at his home track of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
“We are still trying to figure this new car out, we were fighting the handling a bit during the race but we improved a lot over where we were last weekend at Oxford Plains,” Doiron said of his seventh place effort, “It was hard to get anywhere with that long green flag run and coming from as deep in the field as we did.”
The day started with Doiron having a frustrating heat race, as he rode in the sixth spot throughout the race with nowhere to go as the cars were two by two in front of him. This forced Doiron to start deep in the field in the 18th position. At the beginning of the 150 lap feature event, Doiron was trying to save his tires while making his way to the front, and cracked into the top ten by lap 70. The race’s first caution was called on lap 101 as the 55 of Tony Ricci had a flat tire on the backstretch. Sitting in the eighth position on the restart, Doiron worked to make more progress through the field before the finish. He fought hard with DJ Shaw and Johnny Clark at the end, and finished the race in the seventh position.
After two races, Doiron sits in the seventh spot in the PASS North points standings. The team will be back in action next weekend at the tight ¼ mile bullring of Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire. The racing is set to kick off at 4:45PM, come out to the track to support the Wild Willy’s Burgers race team and Joey Doiron!
