Up Next: Thunder Road Weekly and Devil’s Bowl Spring Green 114 ACT Race

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – After a rough feature race at Thunder Road last week, Packard proceeds into this week with a positive attitude. “We are hoping for better things this week at Thunder Road,” said Packard. With some minor damage on the car, the team had little work to get the car ready to run. Presently 11th in the point standings at Thunder Road Packard is only one point back from 10th place.

“All we are looking to do is improve during the 50 lap feature this week,” Packard said. Racing starts Thursday night at 6:30 for the Harvest Equipment Night.

On Saturday, Emily and her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels team head to Devil’s Bowl for the rescheduled Spring Green 114 American Canadian Tour race. Coming off her career best start in the ACT series, Packard was also the first woman to land the pole since the introduction of the ACT’s +/- system; and she hopes to carry her confidence into this race. “Our performance last week gives us a little more confidence as a team going into Devil’s Bowl,” said Packard. “Neal and the guys have been giving me really good cars, but I don’t want to be over confident as anything can happen at any given time.”

Having run the past few weeks at Devil’s Bowl one would think that Packard might benefit more knowing the track, but she seemed humbled by the question. “I think I might have a little advantage because I have raced here the last few weeks,” said Packard. “However, you can never count out any one of the tour guys and their talent.” Packard has raced at Devil’s Bowl three times this season and has won two heat races, and has finished in the top-five in all three feature races there. “The success that I have had there will not be my main focus, but is really about the success of the season. We want to continue having good runs and learning as both a driver and the team and win some races.”

Packard and the 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels team will set out to qualify for the Spring Green 114 on Sunday June 16th, with post time at 1:30 pm.
