speedway 95Brenton Parritt of Steuben led all 50 laps of the Hopkins Landscaping and Paving Dysart’s Late Model feature Saturday night at Speedway 95, but the win was never assured until the checkered flag fell with Hermon’s Mike Hopkins right behind him all the way. Hopkins mounted a late race challenge in the closing laps, but was unable to unseat Parritt from the top spot. Hopkins finished in second with Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben fending off John Kalel II of Orrington to take third. Kalel finished fourth after coming from the rear of the field following a lap 16 spin in turn three that caused the race’s only caution. Last week’s winner, Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington, finished fifth. The race actually finished under the caution after Orrington’s Jim Robichaud spun in turn two after the white flag was shown to the leader. According to the rules, when that occurs, the race continues and the yellow and checkered flags are displayed when the field crosses the finish line. Rounding out the top ten were Milo’s Nick Jenkins, Lloyd Nickerson of E. Corinth, Dean Smart of Bradley, Hermon’s John Curtis Jr. and Dana Wilbur of Winterport, in that order.

Steve Moulton of Holden made his first appearance of the season in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman Division and took home the winner’s trophy, breaking Kris Matchett’s winning streak at five. Matchett, of Skowhegan, finished in second after passing Glenburn’s Emma Libby for the runner up spot. Libby finished in third after contact with D.C. Alexander, also of Glenburn, sent both cars spinning across the finish line, with Libby sliding backwards across the line ahead of Alexander. Alexander finished fourth with Eddington’s Jay Robichaud finishing fifth.

Glenburn’s Jordan Pearson took the lead from Jeff Alley of Machias on lap 3 of the Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Street 25 lap feature and went on the post his first win of the season, becoming the third driver to win in the division this season. Last week’s winner, Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort, finished in the second spot after passing four time winner Alex Berry of Harrington. Berry finished third with Carl McAlpine of Burnham finishing fourth in his first appearance of the season. Frankfort’s Cody Brassbridge was fifth in what was also hiss first race of the season.

Zach Audet of Skowhegan made it three in a row and four for the season in the Coca-Cola Sport-Fours when he won the 25 lap feature after taking the lead from Carmel’s Ted Ryder on a lap 20 restart. Ryder had led from the drop of the green and had a five car length lead over Audet when Dennis Burns of Carmel slowed and stalled on the infield grass, too close to the edge of the track to let the race continue. Audet beat Ryder off the line on the restart and led the final five laps to the checkers. Ryder finished second with Brad Bosworth of Cornville right behind in third. Fourth went to Garett Hayman of Milford after Jayson Bosworth of Cornville faltered momentarily, allowing Hayman by on the last lap. Bosworth finished fifth.
