Hermon, ME – After enjoying a few weeks to celebrate their win at Thunder Road Speedbowl, the #73 JBJ Machine team with Joey Doiron behind the wheel returned to action this past weekend. Race number six of the Pro All Stars Series North brought the team to Speedway 95 just outside of Bangor, Maine for the “Hight Chevrolet 150.” Doiron was looking to keep up the momentum in this race, but engine issues late in the race slowed his pace, but Doiron still managed to grab a eighth place finish.
“We had a top five car at least at the end there, but something went wrong with the motor and I lost the power steering too,” Doiron said after the race, “We had to pit and I made up as much ground as I could, and I’m glad we still salvaged a top ten out of today.”
Doiron finished heat number three in the second position, and would start the 150 lap feature event in the 13th position. After a few early cautions, Dorion was mired back in traffic trying to use the bottom groove while the outside groove was the fast way around the 1/3rd mile Speedway 95. After a caution on lap 30, the field went for a long green flag run that worked out for Doiron as he worked his way into fourth at the races halfway point. By the time the caution flag flew with just 44 laps to go, Doiron had worked his way into the third position. On the restart, Doiron gave it a run at the lead on the bottom, but he held ground in third and when the next yellow flag flew Doiron was forced to pit with to adjust his car to the failed power steering. Doiron drove through the field in the race’s final laps to finish in the eighth position!
After six races, Joey Doiron sits in the third position in points behind winner Mike Rowe and DJ Shaw. The next race for the team will be this weekend as they travel north once again to the Autodrome Chaudiere in Valee-Junction, Quebec for the “Habitations Dany Lagace 150.” Doiron is hoping to close the deal this time at Chaudiere as he led 80 laps on his way to a runner up finish in his last effort at the track. The racing kicks off at 7:00PM on Saturday night, June 20th, we hope to see you there!
