LST Motorsports Park to Host 2023 Season Opener on Sunday, May 7th

LST Motorsports Park is excited to kick off their 2023 season this weekend with an open practice on Saturday, May 6th and their Opening Day kickoff the day following. A total of six classes compete at the track with competitors ages ranging from 5-years-old to AARP eligible.

Track owner Steve Perry is very excited to kick off the season in a big way. Last year’s season debut garnered just over 20 competitors and he is anticipating at least a 50% increase this season. Among the events he’s most excited for this season is the “class photo” of all the competitors together on Opening Day which displays the wide range of drivers at the track.

The track has a jam-packed schedule this season with a little something for everyone to enjoy. Two highlights include the Sr. Champ Division racing at Wiscasset Speedway as the flex division on June 3rd and a Double Feature Day on June 25th which will be sponsored by longtime racers and friends, Matt Dow and Chaz Briggs.

Derek Kneeland Racing is also sponsoring the DKR 50 presented by JM Builders Sr. Champ race on July 12th. The race pays over $5000 to win, which is unheard of for many go-kart races, let alone a go-kart race in Maine. Defending Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model champion Max Cookson will be returning to his roots and sponsoring the night’s races on August 20th. The season will conclude with the Fall Finale, where big hardware and bragging rights will be turned over to the seasons’ victors.

Steve Perry, Debbie Dore and friends were hard at work during the off-season making improvements to the track that will better the experience for both the competitors and the fans. The team made adjustments to the asphalt to better the racing surface, installed important Whelen safety lights and will even be introducing “Tucker’s Towmobile” this season. As Steve Perry describes, “It’s a unique vehicle used to remove damaged karts from the tracks but more importantly, it will be available for our racers to use any time they please for a local function or parade to help promote LST Motorsports Park”.

Steve’s fiance Debbie Dore is his biggest supporter in life and his racing endeavors. In his words, she is the glue that holds the operation together. He also commends Ryan Phillips for his work as the General Manager as he takes the reins on day-to-day operations of the track. Ray Phillips is also a huge help with facility maintenance and tech operations. He also lends appreciation to his brother Michael “Brick” Ramsey and sister Debbie for their endless support.

It takes teamwork to make the dream work and Steve Perry & crew are certainly keeping dreams alive at LST Motorsports Park!

You can be a part of the magic on Opening Day, this Sunday, May 7th. Gates open at 9:30 am and practices start at 11:00 am.
