PETER DRAKE TAKES TRUCK SERIES WIN AT 95
Peter Drake of Corinth took the lead from pole sitter Anthony Moore of Brewer on the 7th lap of the 25 lap Pick up Truck series race at Speedway 95 Wednesday and led to the checkers, picking up his second win of the season. Newcomer David Gray of Dixmont picked up his first top three of the season, finishing in the runner up spot. Dana Harlow of Bucksport backed up his win of a week ago by posting a third place finish. Moore finished fourth with Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton surviving a mid race slide in turns three and four to finish fifth.
Kayla Allen of Bucksport led from the start to the finish in the Ladies feature to win her first checkered flag of the season. It wasn’t an easy win for her as she had to hold off second place finisher Chelsea Young of Winterport, third place finisher Becky Elston of Carmel and fourth place finisher Danielle Beale of Hampden, who all finished in a side by side formation right behind the winner. Although second through fourth places changed hands many times during the race, Allen managed to keep the lead for all 20 laps. Nicole Smith of Bangor finished fifth.
In the Stars of tomorrow, 14 year old D.C.Alexander of Carmel won his career first feature after three years of trying, beating 13 year old Emma Libby of Glenburn by about 3 car lengths. 13 year old Matt Kimball of Cornville finished third, followed by Wes Turner of Montville (14) and and Robert Dyer of Canaan, who is 13.
Ed Cobb Jr. of LaGrange continued his winning ways in the Big Enduros as he took the lead from Benjie Littlefield of Brooks on the fourth circuit and led to the finish. Shawn MacNevin of Hudson finished in second, followed by Erlon Noyes of Garland in third. Shawn Racilla of Dover-Foxcroft finished in the fourth spot, with Woody Davis of Glenburn finishing fifth, one lap down to the leaders.
Zach Audet of Skowhegan picked up his second win of the season in the Little Enduros, leading the 20 car starting field every lap and through two red flag periods. Andrew Crosby of Hermon finished in the second spot, followed by Carmel’s Ted Ryder in third. Darren Durrell survived a hard hit into the back stretch wall in the qualifier to finish fourth, with Milo’s Chad Badger finishing a strong fifth.
