(Oxford, ME) – Joey Polewarczyk drove his #97 Poles Automotive/NH Precision Ford Fusion to a solid 15th place finish in the prestigious TD Bank 250, held at Oxford Plains Speedway, Sunday, July 24.
Polewarczyk expected much more out of his car and he indicated that he felt he had a great car but he said the track would be different today from yesterday (Saturday) because of the temperature difference.
During the TD Bank 250, the drivers draw numbers, to determine the starting spot in their respective heat race. Joey drew #53, which meant with 83 teams competing, Polewarczyk would start deep in the fourth heat race.
During his heat race, Polewarczyk found some debris on the track went off turn 1 slowly and went into the pits to make sure the car was okay to race, this resulted in Joey having to qualify through either one of the three Consolations races or the last chance races. Luckily, Joey qualified through one of the Consolation races.
Polewarczyk would start 32nd on the 38-car field. Joey found himself down a lap within the first half of the race. Joey said, “We came in on the first caution and we had some chunking on our right front tire, it really made the car ill-handling.”
“We decided to come into the pits under the next caution to continue to try and make the car better. We finally got the car where I thought it was the best all day but, being a lap down really took us out of contention.” Joey would add, “All we can do is take what we learned here and use it at Beech Ridge next week (July 30).
