ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Race Report
Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, rallied to finish 11th in the first race of the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Sunday, February 13. A second-year ACT Late Model Tour competitor, the 17-year-old Theriault qualified inside the Top-5 and battled his way to the top half of the field in his first race with RPM Motorsports after encountering mechanical woes. Theriault was racing for position inside the Top-10 when his No. 57 Varney Insurance Agency Ford Fusion abruptly shut off, forcing him to park on the track’s apron without power on Lap 34. He refired the car, started shotgun on the 27-car field and ran up to 11th with the benefit of just two caution flags. Theriault will join the field for a second straight night on Monday, February 14, with another 100-lap event as part of the 45th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Race Report
Multi-time ACT Late Model Tour champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., finished sixth in the first race of the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Sunday, February 13. A seven-time series champion, Hoar started seventh in the 27-car field and moved as high as fifth on a mid-race restart. He never ran lower than ninth place at any point in the event, but he did suffer damage to the right side of the No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger that he said likely had an effect on tire wear and handling. Hoar will join the field for a second straight night on Monday, February 14, with another 100-lap event as part of the 45th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

The hottest driver on the ACT Late Model Tour, Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., joins 27 other teams when he heads to the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Sunday and Monday, February 13 and 14. The two-night event includes a pair of 100-lap main events as part of the annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna during Florida Speedweeks. Polewarczyk won the final three ACT events of 2010 — the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the Milk Bowl at Thunder Road and the season-finale at Waterford Speedbowl. He is one of just three drivers entered in the Speedweeks Cup to have raced at New Smyrna previously, making starts there in both 2006 and 2008.

Seven-time ACT Late Mode Tour champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., is among 28 drivers entered in the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Sunday and Monday, February 13 and 14. The two-night event includes a pair of 100-lap main events as part of the annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna during Florida Speedweeks. Hoar, the all-time ACT leader in wins with 27 in his career, has never competed on the high-banked, half-mile track. Winner of each of the last two ACT championships, he is bringing the same car he finished fourth with in the 2nd annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last September. The two-night event includes a pair of 100-lap main events as part of the annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna during Florida Speedweeks. Theriault, who narrowly missed 2010 ACT Rookie of the Year honors while driving for his family’s team, will compete for the first time with for seven-time ACT championship car owner Rick Paya of RPM Motorsports at New Smyrna. Seven-time ACT champion Brian Hoar will be Theriault’s teammate in 2011.

RPM Eager To Unleash 2-Car Effort In Florida
GEORGIA, Vt. — The inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup may serve as a showcase for the ACT Late Model Tour next week, but RPM Motorsports hopes it serves as a springboard to another championship season.
RPM will field two cars at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in 100-lap main events on Sunday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 14 — one for seven-time ACT champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., and another for second-year driver Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine.
