White, Therrien, MacAskill Take Thunder Road Rookie Titles

       BARRE, VT – A trio of freshman stock car drivers have been named the 2008 Rookies of the Year at Barre’s Thunder Road, each having bested  talent-rich fields of first-year racers in their respective divisions.  Matt White, Bobby Therrien, and Mike MacAskill will officially accept their awards at the annual Thunder Road Banquet of Champions during the winter off-season.

Bushey and Corliss Take Thunder Road Titles

Laperle Wins Dramatic Milk Bowl Finale

     BARRE, VT – Stock car drivers Craig Bushey and Jason Corliss celebrated their first track championships at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, as part of the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl event.  Bushey, of Cambridge, earned the NAPA Tiger Sportsman division title by just 13 points over Joey Laquerre, while Plainfield racer Corliss clinched the Allen Lumber Street Stock
championship by an even-narrower 1 point over Lloyd Blakely. Bushey’s 14th-place finish in the 30-lap Chittenden Bank finale was enough to secure the Sportsman crown, despite Laquerre’s
strong fifth-place run.  Unofficially, the margin of victory was 978-965 points. Brendan Moodie of North Wolcott took his second victory of the season, with Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell second and Thetford
Center rookie Dan Eastman third.  Ricky Roberts of Websterville finished fourth ahead of Laquerre.  Rookie Cody Blake finished sixth, unofficially, with Joel Hodgdon, Alex Perkins, Eric Badore, and rookie Chris Lacey completing the top ten finishers in order.

Laperle Wins Milk Bowl, Steals ACT Championship

       BARRE, VT – Patrick Laperle of Montreal had a career-defining day at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road, winning the 45th Annual
Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl stock car event, and stealing the American-Canadian Tour Late Model Championship from rival Scott Payea
of Milton, VT.  Laperle took a narrow two-point Milk Bowl win over Eric Williams in the three-segment, cumulatively scored race,
and crept past Payea for the championship by just a single point, unofficially, for the season crown.
       “(Today) was about the championship,” said the emotional Frenchman.  “You race all year for a championship.  The Milk Bowl
was like, how do you say it, the cherry on top of the ice cream.”

Hull Wins Thunder Road Warrior Championship

       BARRE, VT – Stock car driver Travis Hull of Graniteville won the 2008 Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior division track championship at Barre’s Thunder Road on Saturday afternoon.  Hull finished third in the division’s 15-lap Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl finale on Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day, enough to secure the season crown over Wolcott’s Jamie Davis by 28 points, 1416-1388.

Joey Pole on the Milk Bowl Pole Again

       BARRE, VT – Nineteen year-old stock car sensation Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk, Jr. won his third consecutive Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Pole Award at the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road on Saturday afternoon.  The Hudson, NH driver earned the $1,000 top prize after posting a single-lap time of 13.165 seconds around Thunder Road’s high-banked 1/4-mile oval, besting 56 other cars in attendance.

Thunder Road Championships to be Decided at Milk Bowl

       BARRE, VT – Three stock car racing divisional championships will be decided at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road with the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl on Sat./Sun., Sept. 27/28.  Eric Williams of Hyde Park, VT was crowned the Late Model division’s 2008 “King of the Road” Track Champion in August, leaving the NAPA Tiger Sportsman, Allen Lumber Street Stock, and Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior battles to go down the season’s final event.
