American-Canadian Tour/Thunder Road Drivers Volunteer for Autism Benefit

       BARRE, VT – Fourteen of the northeast’s top stock car drivers have pledged their support for the Autism Puzzle Foundation’s 3rd Annual Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 12 at 5:00pm.  Racers from the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl will serve as dealers at the Autism Puzzle Foundation’s “Casino Night” fundraiser at the Barre Auditorium.  The event will benefit both the Autism Speaks and the Autism Puzzle Foundation charities, as proceeds will go directly to national scientific research and local education and assistance.

At the risk of sounding like we know what we’re talking about, we’ll predict a warm spring, parking lots that aren’t soggy, and the images of eight-foot-high snow banks becoming merely a memory.  This, of course, will lead to fantastic openings at race tracks across the northeast, pit areas jam-packed with race cars, grandstands overflowing with screaming fans, and action on the asphalt like you’ve never seen before.

Thunder Road?s ?Frozen Logger? Passes Away

       BARRE, VT –Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl mourns the passing of one of its legendary stock car racing pioneers, Henry “The Frozen Logger” Montandon of Waits River, VT.  Driving a flathead-powered #76 Ford coupe owned by Lloyd Hutchins, the popular Montandon scored the biggest victory of his career at the Barre, VT track in the 1963 Labor Day Classic.

Toyota has begun to stretch its wings into North American short track stock car racing at the grassroots level, and its journey begins this year with the Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl and the American-Canadian Tour.  Through its Courtesy Toyota dealership in Berlin, VT, Toyota has become the Official Vehicle of ACT, and will provide a 2008 Toyota Camry Pace Car as well as brand-new Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra Safety Trucks at all 36 ACT-sanctioned events, including the ACT Late Model Tour, the Canadian Série ACT Castrol, and the weekly schedule at Thunder Road.  Toyota will also have season-long signage with Pepsi on the Thunder Road scoreboard on Forsythe Hill.

Toyota Enters Short Track Racing With ACT, Thunder Road

       BARRE, VT – Leading auto maker Toyota will begin its entry into grassroots short track stock car racing through its Courtesy Toyota dealership in Berlin, VT with the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model Championship series and at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, VT in 2008.  Toyota is now the Official Vehicle of ACT and Thunder Road.

Casella to Present Tiger Sportsman 100 at Thunder Road

      BARRE, VT – Casella Waste Management will present a 100-lap stock car race for the NAPA Tiger Sportsman division at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, August 10.  The Casella 100 compliments a jam-packed 2008 schedule full of special events, including four appearances by the American-Canadian Tour Championship Late Models, the CARQUEST Governor’s Cup 100, the 24th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro 200, and Vermont’s first open-wheel Modified stock car race in over 20 years – the True Value Modified Racing Series 100 at the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day lassic.
