We recently surveyed a group of American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Thunder Road fans, officials, and members of the local and regional media, asking their collective opinion on the performances turned in by the drivers they watched race every week in 2007.  Out of their selections of the ten best across the ACT Late Model Tour, Série ACT Castrol, and Thunder Road’s Late Model, NAPA Tiger Sportsman, Allen Lumber Street Stock, and Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior divisions, we have compiled a list of the “Top 25 ACT Drivers of 2007.”

Road to Host American-Canadian Tour Four Times in 2008

       BARRE, VT – Barre’s Thunder Road will host the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) championship Late Model stock car racing series on four occasions in 2008.  The newly-released ACT schedule will bring the popular series to seven race tracks from April through September, and includes Thunder Road’s Merchants Bank 150 and Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic 100 in May, August’s Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200, and the season-ending Chittenden Milk Bowl in September.

?Restructured? American-Canadian Tour Stock Car Schedule Gives Racers Options in 2008

WATERBURY, VT – A completely redesigned championship format will be used for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model stock car racing season in 2008.  A diverse slate of twelve events at seven speedways in the northeastern United States and Canada will comprise the schedule, while also giving race teams several options during the course of the April-to-September campaign.

Série ACT Castrol St-Eustache 300 Coverage Broadcast on RDS Television

       ST-EUSTACHE, QC – The 13th annual St-Eustache 300 stock car race, the twelfth and final event of 2007 for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT)’s Série ACT Castrol, will be featured in a one-hour highlight program on French language RDS Television in Canada.  Won by local hero Sylvain Lacombe of Terrebonne, the event was run in September at Autodrome St-Eustache near Montréal.

Thunder Road?s Jared Henry Wins Use of Mekkelsen RV Camper

       BARRE, VT – Stock car driver Jared Henry of East Barre has won the use of a recreational vehicle from Mekkelsen RV in East Montpelier.  As part of the Mekkelsen RV Winner’s Circle program at Barre’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl, Henry’s name was entered into a random draw with some 47 other drivers that had won a feature event at the Barre track prior to the Chittenden Milk Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 29.  Henry’s name was selected to win the use of a 29-foot Class C motorhome for four days and three nights, with 500 free miles.
