EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard was looking forward to running the 52nd Annual Milk Bowl this weekend at Thunder Road, but Mother Nature has a way of changing plans.
With the opportunity to showcase her talents at the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine on October 13th through the 15th, Packard’s travel/Combine schedule doesn’t allow her enough time to run the Late Model race at Thunder Road and then travel to Virginia in a timely manner. “I was really looking forward to competing in the Milk Bowl this weekend,” said Packard, “but by it being moving to next weekend, we just didn’t have enough time to allow us to race and then travel to Virginia as needed to meet the Drive for Diversity schedule .”

Barre, VT – The 52nd running of the People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT has been postponed due to forecasted rain. The entire weekend schedule from Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5 has been postponed and rescheduled for Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12.
“The Milk Bowl is a two-day show and with the weather looking like a complete washout for Saturday’s qualifying and lingering showers Sunday morning, the integrity of the biggest race of the season is jeopardized if we try to make it a one-day show,” announced Thunder Road Co-Owner and Promoter Tom Curley.

Waterbury, VT – The latest entry in the People’s United Bank Milk Bowl, to be held on Sat–Sun, October 04-05, 2014 at Thunder Road in Barre, VT, is Austin Theriault from Fort Kent, Maine. Theriault began his Late Model racing career with the American Canadian Tour (ACT) in 2010 as a sixteen-year-old rookie. Just like newly crowned 2014 ACT Champion, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr, from Hudson, NH, Theriault helped set the standard for the new younger generation of ACT racers in the Northeast.
Theriault has spent the last two years running in the Super Late Model division in the Southeast and Midwest. He took an opportunity with BKR (NASCAR star Brad Keslowski development program) in 2013, and saw tremendous success. In 2014, Theriault was contracted by JR Motorsports, headed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., to race in the second tier division of NASCAR, the Nationwide Series. He competed at Iowa Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and most recently at the Kentucky Motor Speedway. He had outstanding results with 15th, 21st and 18th place finishes respectively.

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Heading into the last American Canadian Tour race of the season at Airborne
Speedway, Emily Packard, the 17 year old East Montpelier native was fifth in the points just 8 points out of the runner up position in the championship battle and knew that she was going to have to avoid trouble at all cost to gain valuable points.
When the 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car took to the track for the first practice of the day, the car was set up to Packard’s liking and she ended the practice 9th fastest. “This was definitely the fastest car we have ever had at Airborne,” Packard said. “We started off pretty solid in practice and knew we would have a good car for the feature.” The team continued to work on the car the last two practices, trying to dial the car in a little bit more before the heat race. Starting 5th in the fourth heat, Packard was able to move herself up to the 3rd position quickly where she would finish when the checkered flag flew, which meant she was safely in the feature.

Plattsburgh, NY – Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH capped off his 2014 American Canadian Tour title with a win in the season finale Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on Saturday, September 27. Polewarczyk used the high lane to get around Quebec’s Patrick Laperle on the final restart with just over 20 laps remaining in the event to take the lead and become the only repeat winner on the 2014 American Canadian Tour and claim his first career championship.
Polewarczyk took the green flag from the eighth starting position and quickly worked his way for the front as the 37 car field ran under green for the first 67 laps. Kyle Welch and Bobby Therrien both took turns leading until Wayne Helliwell, Jr. claimed the top spot on lap 25. That setup a battle between Helliwell and Polewarczyk for the next 95 laps.
