Waterbury, VT – After a rainout last weekend at Autodrome Montmagny, Série ACT will get underway this Saturday, June 1 with the season opening event at Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, QC.
Autodrome St Eustache most recently hosted a season opening event for the series in 2010, and will serve as the kickoff to an 11-race schedule in 2013. Série ACT underwent major improvements in the offseason, putting up over $400,000 in purse money, including an $80,000 point fund and $70,000 in tire bonus money for teams who participate in all the Série ACT events. It is the largest purse in series history.

Mueller, Pierson, and Smith Claim Feature Wins
Barre, VT – North Haverhill’s Derrick O’Donnell held off a late charge from King of the Road Nick Sweet to pick up the victory in his first-ever Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic at Barre’s Thunder Road on Monday, May 27.
O’Donnell started third in the 30-car field, needing only six laps to claim the lead from South Burlington, VT’s Trampas Demers. 2012 Thunder Road Track Champion Nick Sweet quickly worked his way from his 12th starting position to fifth by lap 41, and by lap 58, after the third of six caution periods, had cracked the top three. Sweet pulled into second with 12 laps to go looking to win his second Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic in a row, but the former Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman Champion O’Donnell held him off to become the 51st name in the Memorial Day Classic Granite Stone at Thunder Road.

Clint Bowyer to Race in VT Lottery Commission Governor’s Cup
Barre, VT – Thunder Road officials announced this morning that NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer will be participating in the Vermont Lottery Commission Governor’s Cup at Barre VT’s Thunder Road on Thursday, July 11.
Bowyer, who currently sits fourth overall on the Sprint Cup Series, will pilot a Crazy Horse racing Toyota Camry in the 150-lap event. His car will be painted to match his #15 Michael Waltrip racing ride that he currently drives in NASCAR’s top division.

Montmagny, QC — The ACT 100 at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC scheduled for Saturday, May 25 has been postponed due to weather.
The race scheduled for Saturday would have been the season opener for the Série ACT, kicking off an 11-race championship chase with unprecedented money on the line. The series came to the track three times in 2012, seeing former Champions Karl Allard, Patrick Laperle, and 2013 title favorite Jean-Francois Dery take victories. A make-up date will be announced in the near future.

Barre, VT – The 51st Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic at Barre’s Thunder Road scheduled for Sunday, May 26 has been postponed to Monday, May 27 for a Memorial Day special due to inclement weather.
The Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic will serve as the first race of the Vermont State Championship Series as well as the first point-counting event for the King of the Road Title at Thunder Road. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will continue their point battles, along with a special first-time appearance from the Devil’s Bowl Dirt Modifieds.

Hebert Penalized for Post Race Technical Infraction
Waterbury, VT — After Saturday’s ACT 100 at Airborne Speedway, eight-time American Canadian Tour Stock Car Champion Brian Hoar has moved into the championship points lead with four events complete.
