Points Tight as NEMA Heads For Lee

leeBrockton, MA – Two-time defending Northeastern Midget Association champion Randy Cabral insists he doesn’t look at the point standings, not this early in the season anyway. He might not be looking but others are and that includes two-time winner John Zych Jr.

Only 13 points separate leader Cabral and Zych as NEMA visits Lee USA Speedway Friday night. Fact is, Todd Bertrand (-26), Russ Stoehr (-38) and Ian Cumens (-45) are locked into a tight battle atop the standings. .

Andy Barrows takes a 51-point bulge into the accompanying NEMA Lites event. Carl Medeiros Jr., who won twice at Lee last year, is determined to cut into that gap. Dan Cugini, Avery Stoehr and P.J. Stergois hold down spots three through five.

NEMA Driver Paul Bigelow Ok After Hard Wreck at Thunder Road

Barre, VT – Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA) President Mike Scrivani has reported to Thunder Road officials that NEMA driver Paul Bigelow of Berlin, CT is ok after his horrific crash at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on Sunday, June 19.

Bigelow was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for evaluation following his accident on the front stretch. Following his evaluation, Bigelow was released with a slight concussion and a bruised knee.

Jeff Abold Returns To NEMA at Lee USA Speedway

Brockton, MA – Jeff Abold, one of the area’s most promising open-cockpit racers, will return to Northeastern Midget Association action Friday night, June 26 at Lee USA Speedway. The 21-year old will drive a Gaerte-powered Hawk, a joint effort between the Abold and Seymour families.

 

Abold has a case if he believes the tricky Lee layout owes him. Driving the Seymour 29, the son of Pat Abold was well on his way to victory last year when he lost a rocker arm. He did turn the fastest feature lap (13.521) at Lee last year.

Lee USA NEMA Ride For Bobby Santos III

 

Brockton, MA – Bobby Santos III will return to the Northeastern Midget Association Friday night (June 25) at Lee USA Speedway replacing his sister Erica in the Breault #44. Santos is one of the country’s top open wheel racers.

 

“I’m looking forward to it,” says owner Ed Breault, explaining Erica has a previous commitment. “The kid has so much talent. It is so exciting to watch him race.”

Season Championships, NEMA Midgets, Highlight Lee Card Friday

Lee, N.H. (9/14/2009) – The 2009 season championships and the high-flying
Northeastern Midget Association will top the race card Friday night,
September 18th, the final weekly event at Lee USA Speedway. The NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series will conclude its 2009 campaign with all five
divisions in competition. The seacoast oval will re-open October 23rd thru
25th for its annual Oktoberfest weekend.
