Double Disaster for Eddie MacDonald at NHMS and Seekonk

Eddie MacDonald, driver of the #71 Grimm Construction Chevy in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and the #17 EXIT Realty/Hancock Electric Chevy in the American Canadian Tour, had to survive an ill-handling car at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and an intentional, devastating wreck at the hands of another driver at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, July 18, 2016.
The three-time K&N winner at the “Magic Mile” could not find the handle on the Grimm Racing Chevy beginning with Friday’s practice despite numerous changes to the car. The K&N series participates in the July Sprint Cup weekend in the United Services 70 with Eddie Mac usually a contender for the win. The Rowley, Mass. veteran battled the ill-handling car during practice on Friday and throughout the race on Saturday to finish 26th.
Payea in Right Place at Right Time for Propane Plus 150 Win
Seekonk, MA – Scott Payea was the last man standing on a wild night at Massachusetts’ Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, July 16, taking the lead with three laps to go en route to his second American-Canadian Tour (ACT) win of the season in the Propane Plus 150.
Colchester, VT’s Payea had run a distant second to Brad Babb for much of the second half of the event, but the 12th caution of the night for ACT Late Model Tour point leader Nick Sweet’s spin on lap 141 set up a showdown between Babb, Payea, Eddie MacDonald, and Dillon Moltz. After Babb got off to a strong restart, Payea began inching back up on the outside as the laps wound down.
Modifieds Set for Ground-Pounding Race Weekend
Emily Packard Ready to Return for Race #2 of the Southern New England Triple-header at Seekonk Speedway
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – After missing the Speedway 51 race to attend a family member’s graduation, Emily Packard is anxious to get back into her Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels sponsored race car at Seekonk Speedway. “I can’t wait to get back in the car,” said the 19-year old. “I have missed being in the car, and I am really looking forward to going to Seekonk for the second race of the Southern New England Triple-Header.” Earlier this year ACT announced the addition of the Southern New England Triple-header, where local drivers from those three tracks can showcase their talent against the ACT tour regulars. The first race was held at the New London/Waterford Speedbowl, where Packard brought home a twelfth place finish. The final round will be run at Thompson Speedway, the last race of the American Canadian Tour season. A separate point fund has been set-up and at the conclusion of the race at Thompson, someone will be crowned the Triple-header Champion.
Entry List Grows To Nearly 50 For 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250
NAPLES, ME (July 14) – Entries from every corner of the United States, as well as Canada, continue to make their way into the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) offices for the 43rd Annual HP Hood Oxford 250. Annually, the best attended race for both fans and participants, the HP Hood Oxford 250 will take place on August 26-28 at the legendary Oxford Plains Speedway, paying $25,000 to the winner. With additional lap leader bonus money also on the line, this year’s HP Hood Oxford 250 winner could potentially take home up to $50,000.
Several drivers have already punched their tickets to the prestigious race through the “Road To The Oxford 250” qualifying events, including this year’s Easter Bunny 150 winner, Ben Rowe, and Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Scott Farrington, and Florida’s Dalton Sargeant, each who advanced through a recent “non-winner’s” race at Oxford Plains a couple of weeks ago.
