PASS To Offer Dual Championships For Northern SLM Competitors In 2015; 4 PASS National Races Announced
NAPLES, ME (December 15) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today a unique championship format that will be awarded to Northeastern and Canadian Super Late Model competitors in 2015. PASS Super Late Model competitors will have the opportunity to race for an overall PASS North championship, which will encompass all 16 events on the 2015 schedule, or the PASS Northeast Super Late Model championship, which will only include the 12 events scheduled in New England.
“Allowing our racers the option to compete for the overall PASS North championship or the new PASS Northeast Super Late Model championship is a big step forward for the series,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “This will allow racers who don’t have the funds or time to compete in the Canadian events a chance to still race for a championship. Likewise, the 2015 PASS North titlist will truly be able to call himself short track racing’s international champion.” (more…)
CHARLOTTE, NC (November 17) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials have added a new race date to the 2015 PASS South Super Late Model schedule at Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee and new details concerning the May race date at Concord Speedway in North Carolina. Additionally, PASS will partner for the first time with the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series to feature both premier tours at the events at Kingsport and Concord.
CHARLOTTE, NC (October 29) – Since the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models first began turning laps on the short tracks of New England and Canada in 2001, Ben Rowe has been there virtually from the beginning. Rowe, a 4-time PASS North Super Late Model Champion and 2-time winner of the prestigious Oxford 250, has become a modern day short track racing legend thanks to his exploits in PASS over the last 15 years. But, PASS Super Late Model racing’s all-time winningest driver, with nearly 40 checkered flags to his credit, has struggled in recent seasons. Last year, Rowe came South to Caraway Speedway for the North-South Shootout hoping to end the year on a strong note. And, following a late-race caution that eliminated several contenders for the win, Rowe did just that, taking his first win of the season and first in the North-South Shootout.
CHARLOTTE, NC (October 21) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today a schedule of at least 12 PASS Pro Late Model events for the upcoming 2015 season. Each PASS Pro Late Model event in 2015 will be in conjunction with the PASS South Super Late Model division. Most events will be 50 laps in length and will continue under the same format that was utilized this season.
Oxford, ME – Evan Beaulieu drove his #56 Hancock Lumber Chevrolet from the 20th starting spot to finish 13th in his first race at Oxford Plains in a Super Late Model. In the longest race the 21 year old driver has run, the race only had three cautions with a green flag run going for over 90 laps, making it tough to pick up spots as the 36 car field spread out around the 3/8th mile track. After what has been a disappointing sophomore season, Beaulieu was thrilled to leave Oxford Plains with the finish.
“I grew up watching these guys race here, so just to be a part of it is really special to me,” Beaulieu said after the race, “I wanted a top ten, and we were there towards the end but by the time the yellows flew at the end there I had used up my right rear and I was fighting grip pretty bad on those restarts. We still had a great finish though and for our first actual PASS race, I’m proud of that effort.”
Beaulieu started tenth and after getting shuffled back in his heat race, he wound up finishing seventh while only the top six advanced into the show, leaving the rest to run the consolation race. Beaulieu started on the pole of the 15 lap “consi,” and lead the whole way to win, and giving himself a 20th place starting spot in the stacked 36 car Super Late Model field.
