Oxford Plains Weekly Competitor Seeks Back-To-Back Starts

NORWAY, Maine – One year ago, Chris Coolidge’s crew chief and father, Bill Coolidge, stood in the infield at Oxford Plains Speedway with tears in his eyes as his son circled the track during the pace laps for the Oxford 250.

While that moment might have served as the culmination in a career for the locally based racing family, Chris Coolidge will try and qualify for the 40 annual TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains this Sunday, July 21, for the second consecutive year. He knows that it certainly won’t be any easier this time around, but he’s still looking forward to being part of the annual midsummer classic.

Coolidge is a rookie in the Pro Late Model division at the track on a weekly basis this season.

Shaw Leads Most Laps En Route To Second at Oxford

djshaw_headshotOxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM team made their way back to Oxford Plains Speedway this past weekend for the fifth event of the Pro All Stars Series North season. The team was looking to improve from their previous race at Oxford where they struggled throughout the day with a tight racecar, but salvaged a sixth place effort. This time around, the team hit the setup right and had one of their best performances of the season on the PASS North Series.

Starting from the 12th position in the 150 lap event, Shaw worked his way into the top ten early, but multiple cautions in the race’s early laps stalled his progress before he was able to make his way through the field. On the races first long green flag run, that’s just what he did. Making the outside groove work to his advantage, Shaw went from ninth at the start of the run, to the lead on lap 62 after dueling with Mike Rowe. Shaw opened his lead up to over a straightaway over the field before the field was slowed by a caution flag with 46 laps to go.

Doiron Slices Through Field For Fifth Place at Oxford

1000-DSC_8255Oxford, ME – Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team rolled into Oxford Plains Speedway for the fifth event of the Pro All Stars Series North season with the points lead and on a string of four straight top five finishes. Starting the day in the 23rd position after a rear end issue in the heat race while leading, Doiron was able to make his way through the field on one of the hardest tracks to pass on. At the conclusion of the race, the team crossed the finish line in fifth place.

“Having the rear end issue in the heat races was a setback for us but I’m proud of the team for working hard to bounce back from that issue,” Doiron explained after the race, “I think we could’ve gotten a little more there at the end but we had used our stuff up just getting to the front and the late restarts didn’t go well for us either.”
