COASTAL 200 TO HIGHLIGHT 2007 SEASON AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

In less than a month engines will come to life and Wiscasset Raceway will usher in the start of another Maine stock car racing season. Race fans and drivers throughout northern New England are hoping that the recent mid-March snowstorm will be the last and they can set their sights on the start of the 2007 schedule. Wiscasset Raceway will continue its tradition as the first Maine track to open its gates with practice day set for Saturday April 7th and then opening day Saturday April 14th at 2:00pm.

WISCASSET RACEWAY AWARDS BANQUET CELEBRATES BEST OF 2006

Wiscasset Raceway put an official end to the 2006 racing season on Friday December 1st in Augusta with its annual awards banquet. Drivers and crews, fans and staff gathered in the Pine Tree Room at the Augusta Civic Center to celebrate the 2006 season with dinner, awards, and dancing. Track announcer Ken Minott acted as master of ceremonies for the evening and handed out trophies and other awards to outstanding drivers in six weekly racing series divisions. Along with trophies for the top 10 in each class, special awards were handed out in each division to recognize Sportsmanship, Outstanding Improvement, and Hard Luck as well as Rookie of the Year and the crowning of 2006 Wiscasset Raceway Driver of the Year. Track photographer Peter Taylor added to the festivities with a video presentation highlighting the year at Maine’s fastest track.

(Hermon, ME)  Speedway 95 ended it's 2006 season Saturday, November 18th with it's annual awards banquet at the Elks Lodge in Bangor. John Phippen, Jr. of Town Hill, picked up his third championship trophy in his ProStock racing career, beating out Winterport's Ryan Deane, by just two points. The second spot in the ProStock standings marks the fourth year in a row Deane has occupied that position. Jason Witts of Bangor earned the trophy in the Limited Sportsman division, by 4 points over Rowland Robinson of Steuben.
