Thunder Road Teams Up With Troy Kingsbury to Fight Illiteracy in Vermont

Barre, VT — With the rise of technology and a new generation, illiteracy in the U.S. becomes a critical problem. It is harder and harder to find ways to get kids interested in reading with all the other options in today’s society, but it remains just as important. Thunder Road has teamed up with Allen Lumber Street Stock driver Troy Kingsbury, of Waitsfield, VT to try and help with the issue here in Vermont. The program is called Race to Read.

Waterbury, VT – After a long off-season, the stars of the Série ACT Castrol are preparing their cars for the 2012 season opener at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC on Saturday, May 26. Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, QC will look to begin his title defense with a message at Montmagny, but he won’t be the only one.

Night racing schedule kicks off Saturday at Unity Raceway

Unity RacewayThe stock car racing schedule moves to Saturday nights this week at Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval, Unity Raceway.

With a pair of points-counting events in the record books, reigning track champion Jeff Burgess of Fairfield holds a slim, one-point advantage over last Saturday’s main event winner, Brian Whitney of Burnham, in the top-tier Late Model division.

Popular Burnham racer Brent “Poochie” Chase has built an eleven-point advantage over sophomore competitor Joe Harriman of Liberty in the Wildcat division.

Second-year Late Model Pro Four division racer Alex Fernald of Benton has a two-point advantage over multi-time champion Steve Rackliff of Starks.

Subway….On a Roll – Helliwell Wins $5,000 at Canaan Fair Speedway

A streak by definition can be defined as a brief run or stretch of good or bad luck; and/or an unbroken series of wins or losses. Heading into Saturday’s Subway Fresh Fit 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway Wayne Helliwell Jr. was a on a streak of three consecutive top 2 finishes in just as many starts in the familiar bright orange Bruce Bernhardt Ford Fusion [not counting a third place finish Friday night with the 350 Supermodified]. What’s more impressive about the two second place finishes and a victory in last weekend’s Spring Green 112 is they were not your normal Saturday night 35 lap features. These were full on 150 lap American Canadian Tour events. Saturday’s $5,000 to win unsanctioned event at Canaan fair Speedway would only add to the streak of an already impressive start to the 2012 race season.
