Early Incidents Relegate Joey Doiron to 15th in PASS 300

1000-DSC_8255Scarborough, ME – Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers team had a disappointing run in the Southern Maine Motors 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.  After struggling to find the handle with their car all weekend, they were collected in two incidents, but fought hard until the end of the Pro All Stars Series North marathon with a 15th place finish.

Thanks to a new partnership with ARBodies, the 73 machine went from its usual black Impala body to a new white ARBodies Dodge Challenger, turning many heads with the new look.  He started and finished third in the heat race, giving him a 12th place starting position for the 300 lap event.

Season Hits Homestretch With Host Of Strong Performances

SOUTH PARIS, Maine – The car known as “T-Rex” continued feasting on PASS North Series competition last weekend.
Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, dominated the Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Sunday, September 15, giving Theriault his second win in five PASS North Series starts in his family-owned No. 57 Pelletier Ford Ford Fusion. The car, built at the beginning of the 2012 season by Crazy Horse Racing, led 192 of the 300 laps after starting on the pole in the 31-car field.
“I’ve got to say, it was probably the easiest 300 laps I’ve ever driven,” Theriault said. “The car was just that awesome.”

The same car won the PASS North Series season finale at Oxford Plains Speedway last year, and it has two wins, three Top-5s and five Top-10s in five races as a Super Late Model. The car was originally built to compete on the ACT Late Model Tour, where it also won a race at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in July of 2012.

AJ Eastman SP33D’s into Victory Lane at NHMS

sp33dstory by Chris Roy

The Giffords Ice Cream Bandolero Series has its final race of the season this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). Last weekend new comer 15 year old, AJ Eastman of Fishers Island, NY got his 1st win at NHMS ¼ mile track.  AJ took the lead early in the feature race and lead every lap, holding off the 90 of Casey Call and the 21 of Jacob Perry, to take the checkered flag.

So what is it like for AJ to race in the Bandolero Series at NHMS, “It’s a lot of fun, very exciting, with lots of competitive racers.”

The ¼ mile track at NHMS is a unique style similar to a “D” shape track as the front straight away is flat and, turns 1 through 4 and the back stretch is all banked. “The facility itself is amazing. The track is challenging due to the transition between the banking and the flatness of the front stretch.”

DJ Shaw Grabs Fifth Straight Top Five in Southern Maine Motors 300

djshaw_headshotScarborough, ME – DJ Shaw continued his late season surge for the Pro All Stars Series North Championship with a runner up finish at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in the 8th Annual Southern Maine Motors 300.  The #60 Precision JLM machine was fast all day, and ran in the top three for most of the event and picked up a lot of points in the championship picture with just one race remaining.

“We had a solid car all day and it was fun racing for the win with Austin (Theriault) and Derek (Ramstrom),” Shaw said after the event, “I didn’t want to push it too hard there at the beginning but coming from outside the top ten and then having to race as hard as everyone else was up front, but all in all it was a great race and great points day for us, we have a shot going into Oxford.”

The weekend started out on Saturday with the heat races.  Shaw started on the outside of the front row, and overtook Brad Babb early to grab the heat win.  That was the second heat win of the season for Shaw, who has been stellar in the qualifiers lately.  The big 300 lap feature event took place the next day on Sunday in front of a great crowd at Beech Ridge.  (more…)

WISCASSET SPEEDWAY PRESS RELEASE 9/14/13

Wiscasset2013logoTOP WINNERS RISE TO THE OCCASION SATURDAY NIGHT AT WISCASSET
by Ken Minott.
It was a clear cool evening at Maine’s fastest track and the fans packed in for a full program sponsored by Napa Auto Parts. Group one division were on the schedule with action in N.E. 4-Cyl Prostocks, Thunder 4 Minis, Prostocks, Super Stocks and the Flex race of the week was the North East Pro 4 Tour. While several drivers came close to their pursuit of their first win, it was in fact the top winners that stepped up to claim their place in victory lane. The N.E. 4-Cyl Prostocks rolled out the first feature with #8 Craig Dunn ginning for his 3rd straight feature win. He was flanked by #24 Jeff Prindall and #14 Bob Patten.
Dunn took advantage of his rare front row starting position and quickly established a three car length advantage over Prindall. While the lead pair pulled away, positions would shuffle back in the field as Bob Patten slipped to the back. Craig Dunn held a comfortable cushion for the duration of the 25 laps caution free feature, driving on to his 3rd straight win. Prindall kept the leader within sight, but never was able to mount a challenge. He would settle for his track high 5th runner up finish of the season. Dave Patton raced his #12 machine up from his 6th starting position to claim the final spot in victory lane. The 15 lap Thunder 4 feature had plenty of passing.
