Lee, NH – The main event at Lee USA Speedway last Friday night was the annual Lance Davis Memorial, a 50-lap Late Model Sportsman race held in honor of the popular driver whose sudden passing shocked and saddened the Lee USA community in the summer of 2003.
The Davis family was on hand to present the top ten finishers with trophies commemorating the event, and it was once again Grant Aither taking home the biggest one after a convincing victory in the extra-distance affair for the Prime Storage and Warehouse-sponsored LMS division.

Once again inclement weather forced the cancelation of the racing program last Friday night at the Lee USA Speedway. This time it claimed the most prestigious event of the season; the 13th Annual Ollie Silva Classic for the ISMA Supermodifieds. Fans and competitors were extremely disappointed but continuous drenching rain made it impossible to run the event. Currently ISMA and the Lee USA Speedway are exploring possible alternate dates and more information will be forthcoming in the next few days.
This Friday night August 16th will be the American Used Auto Parts Ironman’s week on top of the heap of the program with the Harvest 200. The entry level division will be going 25 laps for more money than any previous Ironman event so far this season. Travis Hollins, Evan Horvath, Hannah Shaw, and Danielle Simoneau are just some of the division’s top competitors expected to start the event. More entries are expected for this race and even more are coming as the division prepares for the Ironman Super Series Race October 11th through 13th. A $4,000 purse is in the offering with a cool $1,000 going to the winner. ABSOLUTELY THE BIGGEST PURSE FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL DIVISION OFFERED ANYWHERE. From the first practice Eddie MacDonald battled his car then thirty-nine other opponents to post a hard-earned second place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series’ Pork Be Inspired 150 at Iowa Speedway. The race was the second of two combination East/West Series events held on the fast 7/8 of a mile speedway. The new Grimm Construction/MS Society Chevy gave the crew fits in the first practice but really came on at the end of the race while the competition faded.
“This is a great finish for us at Iowa. We really needed this for the team,” said Eddie Mac after the race. “It was a crazy day right from the beginning. We were black flagged for a serious tire rub in the first practice. The crew did an outstanding job cutting away the fenders where the tires burned through. We had to replace the composite body affected areas with sheet metal and rivets. It didn’t look pretty but it got the job done. I thank the guys for all their hard work. This new car is super but we keep learning things about it both good and bad.”
