This past Friday night’s racing program at the Lee USA Speedway once again fell victim to inclement weather. Incoming thunderstorms forced the cancelation of the entire program. Racing action at Lee USA will resume this Friday night at 7:15PM. Besides the regular NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing program, the show will also feature the ever popular Quad Wars. Last season the NY team defeated the NH team, and have vowed to do it again. New Hampshire team captain Matt Smith has promised revenge and he and his teammates are determined to do what it takes to prevail.
Along with Quad Wars the Benson Hardware Small Block Supers will be on hand for their 30 lap feature event. Tommy Tombarello was the winner on the last outing. Defending champ Wayne Helliwell Jr. has been close on several occasions, but has yet to win his first feature this season. JR Baril is still considered to be the the favorite in the Prime Storage Late Model Sportsman despite being sidelined in the past two events. Tony Kawejsza won for the first time two weeks ago ahead of a hard charging Michele Fushpanski. Mike Williams, Patrick Tanguay, and Jim Shorey will lead the contingent of David’s Race Car and Components Hobby Stocks while 14 year old Danielle Simoneau will still be looking for her first feature win in the American Auto Ironman division. She was a close second to Jake Rheaume two weeks ago.

Lee, NH – With threatening weather quickly moving into the area on Friday night, Lee USA Speedway track officials were in hurry-up mode from the drop of the first green flag, and entire program of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing presented by Mobil 1 went into the record books well before the rains came.
2010 champion and current points leader Tommy Tombarello, Jr. lined up eighth for the 30-lap Benson Lumber and Hardware Small Block Supermodified feature event, but he quickly worked his way through the field and took the lead from polesitter Tony Carroll, who had set the early pace while Tombarello worked traffic.

A streak by definition can be defined as a brief run or stretch of good or bad luck; and/or an unbroken series of wins or losses. Heading into Saturday’s Subway Fresh Fit 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway Wayne Helliwell Jr. was a on a streak of three consecutive top 2 finishes in just as many starts in the familiar bright orange Bruce Bernhardt Ford Fusion [not counting a third place finish Friday night with the 350 Supermodified]. What’s more impressive about the two second place finishes and a victory in last weekend’s Spring Green 112 is they were not your normal Saturday night 35 lap features. These were full on 150 lap American Canadian Tour events. Saturday’s $5,000 to win unsanctioned event at Canaan fair Speedway would only add to the streak of an already impressive start to the 2012 race season.
