Lee, NH – The final month of racing toward the goal of the 2014 season championships began at Lee USA Speedway on Friday night, with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Supermodifieds, Late Model Sportsmen, Hobby Stocks, and Ironmen joined by the touring Northeast Classic Lites for an entertaining night of racing action at “New Hampshire’s Center of Speed”.

Leslie Keyser of Northfield was the man of the hour in the EKeys 4cars 30-lap main event for the Supermodifieds. Keyser jumped out to the early lead with Topsfield, MA’s Bobby Webber in tow for the first four laps of the fast-paced feature race, which ran caution-free from green to checker in just over seven minutes.

Luke Hiebert – At the End of the Day, I have a Great Day

The Moat Mountain Legends Series returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) this weekend for another double header race. After having last weekend off from racing on the road course, Luke Hiebert of Bethel Maine, is all set to get back behind the wheel of the #32 legend car and take on the 1.6 mile road course at NHMS. “I am very excited to race this upcoming weekend. I found something at the last race and made huge improvements in both my lap times and also in my confidence. We finally figured out an issue that has been plaguing me this year. The weather looks like it is going to cooperate and make for some good racing.”

The road course at NHMS has long straight aways, hair pin turns and changes on elevation so what does Luke do to setup the car to account for all these variables on the track? “The road course set up that Bob Weymouth has hooked me up with has been very helpful to me this year. We set the car up different from last year and have made adjustments based on my driving and minimal adjustments if there is an issue the day of the race. The course has lots of different areas where you can gain or loose significant amount of time. My teammate Patrick Dillion helped me the last session in picking different areas to focus on and that has made a significant difference in the lap times.”

Lee, NH – The highly-anticipated 75-lap Ollie Silva Memorial Mid-Summer Classic for the International Supermodified Association (ISMA) was the featured attraction at Lee USA Speedway on Friday night, with a capacity crowd filling the grandstands at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed for the event.

Several alumni from the Lee USA Small Block Supers were among the strong field of speedsters on hand for the evening’s racing action, but one of them was sidelined before qualifying had been completed. On the first lap of the first ISMA heat of the night, Danny Lane took a scary ride into the wall in turn one with an apparent stuck throttle, ending his night before it had even started.

Two laps later while leading the same qualifier, “Liquid” Lou Cicconi had problems of his own and spun into the wall in nearly the same spot, putting his Clyde Booth entry on the shelf for the night as well. Jon Gambuti, Mark Sammut, and Rob Summers collected the heat race wins.

Larsen Scores First Tour Victory At Inaugural NHMS Event

NEMST1History was made multiple times in central New Hampshire Sunday for the Texas Roadhouse North East Mini Stock Tour presented by Twisted Tea.  The largest starting field ever for the young series assembled in the infield of New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the course of the weekend. As cars arrived they went through a vigorous safety inspection to make sure the cars were prepared for the up to 130 MPH speeds they were going to run.
Sunday morning the cars rolled from pit road and began to pace around the one mile NASCAR oval housed within the NHMS facility. After 3-4 pace laps the cars were allowed to turn up the speed and start laying down fast laps. During the 30 minute practice session multiple cars pit to make adjustments and go back out to try again. The cars were running an average speed of 110 MPH around the 12* banked track.

Moltz Looks to Run Down Gelinas at Monadnock Speedway

JBH 100-1

Walpole, NH-    The first half of the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) 2014 season is complete, and Larry Gelinas has been on a tear.  Gelinas has not finished outside of the top 4, with a win and three second place finishes in that stretch.  He has fought a few bouts of adversity, recovering from a mid-race spin at Hudson in the Gate City Classic to come back through the field and take the checkers, and surviving at Star Speedway for the Star 100 as his car fell off the pace late in the race.  G

Enter Dillon Moltz.  Moltz sits 42 points behind Gelinas entering the JBH 100 at Monadnock Speedway this Saturday, August 9th.  The driver of the RB Performance/Brackett Mechanical Chevrolet picked up a fifth place finish at the opener at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, and talk of the youngster making huge waves in the series began.  The Waterford, CT driver then went to Monadnock, and the bad luck bug bit Moltz.  The no. 5 Chevrolet was involved in a couple of incidents, with Moltz ending up with a 17th place finish.  At the Gate City Classic, Moltz had another fast car underneath him, leading some laps early, but couldn’t seal the deal and ended up 5th.
