Eddie MacDonald survived the grueling ACT International 500 in Plattsburgh, N.Y. in the American Canadian Tour’s inaugural event nosing out Booby Therrien at the line on the final lap for fourth place in the final segment to vault the veteran racer into a third place overall finish. The two day event on the half mile oval in upstate New York culminated with three segments on Sunday for 100 laps each with 40 cars taking the first green flag.
Eddie Mac ran fourth, fifth, and fourth in the Hancock Electric sponsored Chevy in the three segments for a combined score of 13, good enough for third place behind ACT‘s dominant performers in winner Joey Pole and runner-up Brian Hoar. The Freddie Peterson owned Chevy came from a tenth starting position in the heat to nip Brent Dragon at the line to advance to the feature with a +4 rating. Oxford, ME – In the first TD Bank 250 to feature the Super Late Models since 2006, Joey Doiron and the 73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team had an incredible day, finishing second after leading 26 laps in the biggest short track race in the country. Many of the biggest stars of motorsports have competed in the annual 250 lap event at Oxford Plains Speedway. 66 of the best Super Late Model drivers tried to qualify for the 41 car field that paid $25,000 to win.
Starting the weekend out with practice on both Saturday and Sunday morning, the team felt confident in their chances going into the heat races. It wasn’t going to be easy however, as Doiron drew 10th place in the first heat race. The pre-race draw is one of the most intriguing parts of the day, as only four cars will get in to the race through the heat races, and the rest go to consolation and last chance races. Doiron wasted no time in his heat to find the front however, as he used the outside groove to work his way forward. With ten laps to go in the 25 lap heat, he was in a transfer spot for the 250. He didn’t stop there though, as he drove to a third place finish, giving him a 13th place starting spot for the main event.

Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM Racing team returned to the Oxford Plains Speedway this past weekend for the 40th annual TD Bank 250, the biggest race in short track racing. 66 of the country’s best Super Late Model drivers battled for 41 spots in the heat races. Shaw had a great run going, as he contended in the top five for much of the race until a skirmish late in the race left Shaw with damage, and holding on for a 17th place finish at the end of the day.
Throughout the two days of practice, Shaw felt confident in his chances to turn out a good finish in the TD Bank 250. Shaw had run the race in ACT style competition in previous years, but this year was the return of the Super Late Models. He would start from the ninth position in the fifth 25 lap heat race, leaving his work cut out for him as only four cars would make the big show while the rest would be relegated to the consolation and last chance races. Shaw wasted no time on his way to the front though, as he used a timely caution flag to his advantage to work his way forward and take the heat win ahead of his teammate Andy Saunders in the 49 car! The heat win gave Shaw a 5th place starting spot for the 250 lap main event.
