Scarborough,Maine-Bill Rodgers won the Pro Series 40 lap main event on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in a drag race to the finish line on the final lap. Getting to the point was a journey though as Rodgers started deep in the 18 car field. Could the Pro Stocks be making a comeback in New England? Consider the fact that last Saturday night the PASS Tour, based in Maine, managed to bring to Seekonk Speedway some 27 entries for their annual appearance at the Cement Palace. The teams came from New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire and Quebec to challenge the dominant Pro Stock drivers from Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Last month the PASS Tour was able to muster another good field the night before the TD Bank Oxford 250 at the Oxford Plains Speedway. All that in spite of high fuel prices! No doubt the $20,000 purse posted by Seekonk Speedway had a lot to do with motivating those North Country and Canadian drivers to make the long trip south.
Lee, NH – Lee USA Speedway played host to the annual David’s Race Cars and Components Hobby Stock Shootout 50-lapper on Friday night, with Groton, MA racer Geoff Rollins outrunning the biggest field of the season to collect the win.
Division sponsors David and Annette Joyce of David’s Race Cars and Components were on hand in the VIP tower celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, and they headed trackside to present Rollins with the hardware in the post-race victory lane ceremony. (more…)
Unity, Maine – Jeff Burgess of East Madison survived a torrid battle with Freedom’s Dylan Turner to win the 35-lap Late Model feature race, topping the stock car racing card Saturday night at Unity Raceway.
Burgess, locked in a tight battle for the 2011 championship at “Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval,” lost the top spot to Turner on a mid-race restart, then returned the favor, prevailing in a five-lap shootout following a late-race caution flag. (more…)
A podium finish at Seekonk Speedway kicks off Joey Polewarczyk’s second half of 2011
(Seekonk, MA)- The start of the second half of the 2011 race season got off to a great start Saturday Night for the Joey Polewarczyk Race Team.
Polewarczyk, a native of Hudson, NH made the trip to his favorite track to compete in the Seekonk Speedway, PASS 150. Joey says, “We were fast right off the hauler. I love this track and we have a great record of finishes here.” (more…)
