ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Race Report
Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., won the first race of the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Sunday, February 13. Polewarczyk, who started second in the 100-lap ACT Late Model Tour event, dominated by leading three times for a total of 77 laps. It was Polewarczyk’s fourth straight win in ACT competition dating back to last September in the No. 97 Pole’s Automotive Ford Fusion, and he held off Patrick Laperle over the final laps for the victory. Polewarczyk, 21, took the lead for the final time following a Lap 61 restart by using the high groove to his advantage on the high-banked half-mile. He’ll join the field for a second straight night on Monday, February 14, with another 100-lap event as part of the 45th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Preview
Second-year ACT Late Model Tour driver Austin Theriault debuts with his new team at the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Sunday and Monday, February 13 and 14. The two-night event includes a pair of 100-lap main events as part of the annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna during Florida Speedweeks. Theriault, who narrowly missed 2010 ACT Rookie of the Year honors while driving for his family’s team, will compete for the first time with for seven-time ACT championship car owner Rick Paya of RPM Motorsports at New Smyrna. Seven-time ACT champion Brian Hoar will be Theriault’s teammate in 2011.

MVRCA Salute to Hall of Fame Libby Brothers highlights Racin’ Preview 2011 at Portland Expo February 25-26
Portland, ME – Legendary Maine racers Phil and Bob Libby will be the focus of an extensive Maine Vintage Race Car Association display at Northern New England’s biggest and best wintertime stock car racing showcase, Racin’ Preview 2011, set for Friday and Saturday, February 25-26 at the Portland Exposition Building on Park Street (U.S. Route 1).
Both Phil and Bob Libby are members of the Beech Ridge Hall of Fame, the Maine Vintage Race Car Association Hall of Fame and the NEAR New England Hall of Fame.

RPM Eager To Unleash 2-Car Effort In Florida
GEORGIA, Vt. — The inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup may serve as a showcase for the ACT Late Model Tour next week, but RPM Motorsports hopes it serves as a springboard to another championship season.
RPM will field two cars at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in 100-lap main events on Sunday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 14 — one for seven-time ACT champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., and another for second-year driver Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine.

Moultonboro, NH – A warm February afternoon made a great day to be out on a lake, but the ice conditions challenged the ice racers from the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club . Some of the best racing so far this season was about to take place.
First out were the Rear Wheel division cars and pickups. Matt Morrill (9) of Moultonboro mounted a serious challenge to Tim Chase (40) of Northfield, but Tim continued his string of victories with Matt settling for second place, at least for this week. Kris Jacques, in his #63 NAPA pickup, finished third. (more…)
