Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials have announced that the track will host Amanda Pelkey Night this Thursday, July 20 as part of FairPoint Communications Night. The Montpelier native will be honored with a send-off ceremony as she prepares to begin training for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea with the United States Women’s National Ice Hockey team.
Pelkey began her hockey career with the Barre Youth Sports Association and was a member of the Junior Women’s Hockey League throughout her high school years, first with the Boston Shamrocks of Massachusetts and later with the North American Hockey Academy of Stowe, Vt. She attended the University of Vermont (UVM) from 2011 to 2015 and holds all of the school’s women’s ice hockey scoring records.

Eddie MacDonald scored a 12th place finish in the K&N Pro Series East’s United Site Services 70 at NHMS on Saturday, July 15. The K&N series returned to the Loudon track for the annual NASCAR Cup weekend.
Eddie Mac posted a 15th place start in qualifying but was moved to the 20th position after sustaining an infraction in tech. The Grimm Construction Chevy moved into the 12thposition despite fighting a loose condition. Eddie Mac never got the caution he needed to bunch up the field that quickly spread out after the only caution on lap four. The 70 lap feature took only 39 minutes and forty-five seconds to run leaving no opportunity to make any significant progress.

Barre, Vt. – South Burlington’s Trampas Demers earned one of the biggest Thunder Road Late Model wins of his career on Thursday, July 13, taking the lead for good from Hinesburg’s Bobby Therrien with 10 laps remaining and holding on to win the 38th Vermont Governor’s Cup presented by VP Racing Fuels.
With NASCAR Champion Kyle Busch in the field and a massive crowd in attendance, it was the veteran Demers who stole the show in a wild, back-and-forth race. Demers led eight laps in the early going before dropping back in the pack as Blainville, QC’s Jonathan Bouvrette and Milton’s Scott Dragon set the pace.

Barre, Vt. – The 38th Vermont Governor’s Cup presented by VP Racing Fuels rolls to the line at Barre’s Thunder Road this Thursday, July 13. NASCAR Champion Kyle Busch and Vermont Governor Phil Scott are expected to lead a talented field of Late Model racers going for the victory in one of the biggest races of the year on the high banks.
Las Vegas, Nevada’s Busch will make his first visit to Thunder Road looking to add to a résumé that includes the 2015 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship, the 2009 Xfinity Series Championship, and hundreds of race wins on tracks across North America. He would be the first NASCAR driver to emerge victorious in an event that has seen stars such as Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, and Ken Schrader in the line-up over the years.

LEE, N.N. — Double prize money will be on the line for super-modified and late model drivers and double feature races are on a big schedule for fans this Friday night at Lee USA Speedway.
Super-modifieds will run in qualifying heats plus two 30-lap feature events, each paying $1,000 to the winner. It will be the only time this season for twin feature races, which also award NASCAR championship points.
The first super-modified main event will follow heat races in Lee’s Hobby stock, pure stock and Ironmen divisions. The second 30-lap super-mod feature will get the green flag following qualifiers in several divisions.

After running the table in 2016, with no rainouts slowing the championship chases in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, three straight rainouts early in the 2017 campaign had drivers chomping at the bit to get back in action at Lee USA Speedway on Fridaynight.
In addition to the weekly divisions, the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) and Northeast Classic Lites were on the schedule, and it was a longtime Lee regular who made the headlines in the 100-lap GSPSS feature event.
Joe Squeglia of Derry, who started his racing career some 25 years ago in the Hobby Stocks at Lee USA, took advantage of a late-race incident to collect yet another Lee USA checkered flag in the P & H Electric, Automart-sponsored machine.
