The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today disqualification of Jonathan Bouvrette and his #41QC team from the Spring Green 117 held last Saturday night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Bouvrette crossed the finish line in first place, but it was determined during post-race technical inspection that unapproved engine components had been utilized on the Bouvrette team’s powerplant.
In addition to forfeiting all championship points and prize money from the event, a fine of $1,500 has been levied, and the #41QC team will be on technical probation for the remainder of the 2017 season at all ACT US and Serie ACT events.
Lee, NH – Lee USA Speedway raised the curtain on the 2017 weekly racing season on Friday night, with defending Super champion Dave “Hollywood” Helliwell of Salem making a statement in his first ride aboard the storied Witkum Brothers Racing entry, taking down the checkers for the season opening win in the Rodfather-sponsored NASCAR Whelen All American Series Supermodified feature.
ISMA Supermodified veteran Jamie Timmons led the early laps of the main, clicking off some impressive laps in the machine normally steered by Kyle Sawyer, setting a torrid pace over the first half of the 30-lap main event. Helliwell moved up to challenge Timmons shortly after the crossed flags, and made the winning pass to take over the point on lap 18, going the distance from there to post the win.
The Granite State Pro-stock Series traveled to Long Islands Riverhead Speedway for round two of the 2017 season on Saturday night. 2016 rookie of the year Mike Mitchell won a wild affair in convincing fashion.
Mitchell had never finished on the podium before Saturday night and wasn’t planning on racing as recently as the Monday before. It was a push from his girlfriend and the support of his race team that had them making the journey to the tight quarter mile oval and Mitchell made sure it was worth it.
Teddy Hodgdon of Danbury, CT is driving the #28 legend car, in the MOAT Mnt Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The MOAT Mnt Legends are back at NHMS for another double header weekend at NHMS. “We might have to make some slight adjustments during the weekend, but with the baseline from our shop we should be quick right out of the gate.”
In the last road course race here at NHMS, Teddy was able to get a top 3 finish and take a spot on the podium in victory lane. “We got lucky at the start of the race and after the restart I was able to settle into 3rd. I was able to hold on to that position for the rest of the race.”
WALPOLE, N.H. – Coming off a rain-shortened season-opening event at Lee USA Speedway back on April 30, the Granite State Pro Stock Series is set to return to action this Saturday night, this time in New York. The quarter-mile Riverhead Raceway will play host to the series for a 100-lap feature event that will pay $2,000 to the driver that rolls into Victory Lane.
The event will showcase the top GSPSS talent up against some of the Riverhead Late Model weekly competitors.
Last season, GSPSS drivers headed south to Riverhead in July and completed the inspection process along with a few rounds of practice, but then Mother Nature took control of the night. The race was cancelled and was not rescheduled, meaning this season’s stop will be the inaugural 100-lap event for the series at the bullring.
