Barre, VT – Patience was a virtue for Scott Dragon on WDEV/Calkins Portable Toilet Night. The Milton driver, who started 17th in the 22-car field, took over the lead with 12 laps to go and pulled away for the win in the 85-lap Thunder Road Late Model feature.
The early part of the event belonged to Eric Badore of Milton, who took over the lead from Darrell Morin of Westford on a 20th-lap restart. Badore opened up 10-car length lead as Morin and Cody Blake of Barre waged a side-by-side battle for second place for over 40 laps. Dragon finally moved into the top three on the 63rd lap, quickly overtook Phil Scott of Middlesex for second, then claimed the lead from Badore on lap 74.
Scott finished second, with Badore third. Nick Sweet of Barre, Jason Corliss of Barre, Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier, Blake, Trampas Demers of S. Burlington, Tyler Cahoon of Danville, and Mike Bailey of South Barre rounded out the top 10.

Barre, VT – Another Late Model feature, another photo finish at Thunder Road. Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier lost the lead to Eric Chase of Milton with a lap to go in the Times Argus Mid-Season Championship, then came back to claim the victory on the final lap by 2/100ths of a second.
Pembroke, who started ninth in the 25-car grid, moved into the top three after a lap-35 restart, took over second on lap 50, then claimed the lead from Boomer Morris of Barre following a lap 67 caution. Pembroke looked to be motoring to an easy victory until the fifth caution of the 75-lap feature flew on lap 67. Chase, starting on the outside, was able to grab a slim lead on lap 74, but couldn’t hold on for the victory.

Eric Badore celebrates his victory in the Thunder Road Late Model Feature on Fairpoint Communications Night. (Alan Ward photo)
Barre, VT – Scott Dragon of Milton literally caught Nick Sweet of Barre at the finish line to capture the makeup of the rained-out Governor’s Cup, and Eric Badore of Milton took advantage of rookie Marcel Gravel’s late-race misfortune to earn the Thunder Road Late Model feature on Fairpoint Communications Night.
Sweet dominated for most of the Governor’s Cup, running away from the 29-car field from the pole position at the green flag to take the lead, which he held for the first 136 laps of the 150-lap event. Dragon got better as the race went on, moving into the top 3 on lap 115, then claiming second place on the 128th lap, then moving in front on a lap 141 restart.
Sweet went back in front three laps after that restart following the fourth caution of the race. Dragon continued the chase, caught Sweet coming out of turn 4 on the final lap, then finished 1/100th of a second in front of Sweet as the two drivers made contact at the finish line.

Shawn Fleury climbs from his care after taking checkers on CVMC ExpressCARE Night at Thunder Road (Alan Ward photo)
Barre, VT – Shawn Fleury of Middlesex led from start to finish to pick up his first victory of the season in the Thunder Road Late Models on CVMC ExpressCARE Night.
Starting on the pole, Fleury jumped into an immediate lead over rookie Marcel Gravel of Wolcott, who started on the outside of the front row. Fleury widened his margin as Gravel and veteran Dave Whitcomb of Essex Jct. battled side-by-side for second place. Gravel, who led 38 laps of last week’s feature before falling victim to handling problems late in the race, held onto second, while Whitcomb finished third.
There were no yellow flags in the 50-lap event, and the top three ran away from the rest of the field, which was bottled up behind a battle for fourth place between Jason Allen of Barre and Matt White of Northfield. Allen crossed the finish line in fourth, but was disqualified after failing post-race inspection. Phil Scott of Middlesex, Nick Sweet of Barre, Scott Dragon of Milton, Tyler Cahoon of Danville, Jason Corliss of Barre, White, and Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier rounded out the top 10.

Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier in Victory Lane after winning the Thunder Road Late Model 50-lap main event. (Alan Ward photo)
Barre, VT – Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier claimed the third Triple Crown of the season in three regular-season events on Harvest Equipment Night on Sunday afternoon, sweeping his heat race, the semifeature, and the 50-lap Thunder Road Late Models feature.
Pembroke survived a collision with Eric Chase of Milton on his way to the victory. The two cars collided on the backstretch after the third caution flag of the race was thrown on lap 40. Since the wreck didn’t cause the yellow flag, Pembroke was allowed to reclaim his second-place position in the field. He moved past Darrell Morin of Westford on the ensuing restart and stayed in front for the rest of the event.
Rounding out the top ten were Nick Sweet of Barre, Morin, Phil Scott of Middlesex, Eric Badore of Milton, Jason Corliss of Barre, John Donahue of Graniteville, Shawn Fleury of Middlesex, and Josh Masterson of Charlotte. Badore and Sweet also claimed Maplewood Stores Triple Crowns in the first two regular-season Late Model events at Thunder Road.
