Barre, VT – The “Outlaw” Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts held off two-time and defending Thunder Road Track Champion Derrick O’Donnell to claim the victory in the 52nd running of the People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, October 12. MacDonald put together a combined overall score of 14 points in the three-segment event to become the first winner from outside of Vermont since 2010.
MacDonald qualified with the third fastest time in yesterday’s Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Time Trials. Outside polesitter and 2014 Serie ACT Champion Alex Labbe suffered mechanical issues at the start of the first segment and MacDonald then got around polesitter Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. to take the first segment win, just ahead of O’Donnell in second and 2009 Milk Bowl Champion John Donahue in third. EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard was looking forward to running the 52nd Annual Milk Bowl this weekend at Thunder Road, but Mother Nature has a way of changing plans.
With the opportunity to showcase her talents at the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine on October 13th through the 15th, Packard’s travel/Combine schedule doesn’t allow her enough time to run the Late Model race at Thunder Road and then travel to Virginia in a timely manner. “I was really looking forward to competing in the Milk Bowl this weekend,” said Packard, “but by it being moving to next weekend, we just didn’t have enough time to allow us to race and then travel to Virginia as needed to meet the Drive for Diversity schedule .”
Barre, VT – The 52nd running of the People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT has been postponed due to forecasted rain. The entire weekend schedule from Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5 has been postponed and rescheduled for Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12.
“The Milk Bowl is a two-day show and with the weather looking like a complete washout for Saturday’s qualifying and lingering showers Sunday morning, the integrity of the biggest race of the season is jeopardized if we try to make it a one-day show,” announced Thunder Road Co-Owner and Promoter Tom Curley.

Waterbury, VT – The People’s United Bank Milk Bowl is full of ceremony, tradition, and exceptional stock car racing. The fall season in Vermont is the perfect backdrop for one of America’s greatest closing short track events of the race season.
When asked what makes the Milk Bowl so special, Tom Curley, long-time promoter at Thunder Road said, “First, the purse is over ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) to win. Also, for most teams it is the last race of the season. For many, just getting qualified and racing in a Milk Bowl is the goal. It has been billed as ‘the toughest short track race in America’ and for race fans, that has been proven year in and year out.”
