Bill Davis Wins Second Straight M&M Beverage Enduro

Barre, VT – Bill Davis of Monson, MA became the first ever repeat winner of the M&M Beverage Enduro at Thunder Road on Sunday, August 3. Davis followed up his 2013 victory with another $3,000 payday in this year’s 30th edition of the event. He was the only driver to complete all 200 laps.

 

Chris LaForest of Barre took second with 195 laps completed. James Nowakowski, Donny Mucherino, Chris Ouellette, Don Woodworth, Lou Cadwell, Doug Titus, Nathan LaFont and Paul Dudley all finished in the money with top ten finishes.

Nick Sweet Earns 13th Career Thunder Road Win

Barre, VT – Barre’s own Nick Sweet pocketed his 13th career Thunder Road Late Model feature win during WDEV/Calkins night on Thursday, July 31. Sweet flew through the field from his 12th starting position and moved around Shawn Fleury with just under ten laps to go to take his second win of the 2014 season and help solidify his spot at the top of the standings.

 

Fleury settled for second while Derrick O’Donnell scored his second straight podium finish in third. Eric Chase earned fourth while Boomer Morris claimed fifth after leading early in the 50 lap event, which saw just one caution. Trampas Demers, Phil Scott, Jason Allen, Scott Dragon and Cody Blake completed the top ten.

M&M Beverage Enduro Returns to Thunder Road

troadBarre, VT – This Sunday, August 3 will see the 30th running of the M&M Beverage Enduro 200 at Barre’s Thunder Road. The “People’s Race” as it has become known features 200 laps of thrashing and crashing with no cautions. Over 50 drivers have already signed up for the event, including several notable Thunder Road competitors.

 

At 68 years of age, Don “Dipstick” Tofani of Plainfield has become a staple of the “People’s Race” and even won back in 1987. He has competed in every one of the 29 previous events and finished second in last year’s race.

Thunder Road Hits Home Stretch with WDEV/Calkins Night

Barre, VT – Barre’s own Thunder Road International Speedbowl hits the home stretch for its 2014 season this Thursday, July 31 with WDEV/Calkins Portable Toilets night. Thursday night will close out the month of July leaving just four more Thursdays plus the Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic in August to decide the 2014 Late Model “King of the Road.”

 

Two-time Late Model Champion and 2014 Vermont Governor’s Cup winner Nick Sweet of Barre currently sits atop the standings by a slim three-point lead over another two-time “King of the Road” Dave Pembroke. Pembroke is looking toward this Thursday to claim his first win of the season and erase the three-point deficit. Defending Thunder Road track champion Derrick O’Donnell and this year’s Times-Argus Mid-Season Champion Trampas Demers ride just eight points behind Pembroke, while outstanding rookie driver Eric Badore holds the final top five spot.

Jason Corliss Takes Second Thunder Road Late Model Win

Barre, VT – Barre’s Jason Corliss claimed his second career Thunder Road Late Model win and became the first repeat winner in the division for 2014 during Safelite Auto Glass night on Thursday, July 24. Corliss came from the ninth starting spot and got under Lt. Governor Phil Scott late in the 50 lap event to gain the lead and eventually the win.

 

Young Kyle Pembroke led early in the race until relinquishing the lead to Brett Gervais on a restart just past halfway. Gervais then held the lead until losing control on a lap 32 restart handing the lead to Scott. Corliss ran down Scott and took over the lead with under 15 to go. He cruised to the win over the final laps. Derrick O’Donnell also got by Scott to claim second. Kyle Pembroke took fourth and Eric Badore completed the top five.

Trampas Demers Snags Times Argus Mid-Season Championship

Barre, VT – South Burlington’s Trampas Demers snagged the Late Model win during the double-point Times Argus Mid-Season Championships at Thunder Road on Thursday, July 17. Demers came from deep in the field to beat Scott Dragon in the closing laps of the 75 lap event. Demers came from the 14th starting position to claim his seventh career feature win.

 

Dragon led most of the second half of the event but had to settle for second as Demers beat him by half a car length at the checkered flag. Lance Allen completed the podium. Dave Pembroke and Nick Sweet worked their way from the back of the field through heavy traffic to complete the top five. Josh Demers, Eric Badore, Derrick O’Donnell, Kyle Pembroke and Emily Packard completed the top ten.
