Patrick Dillon of Portland, Maine is racing the #45 legend car in the MOAT Mountain Legend road course series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). “I raced the NHKA Racing Series (Karting) for two years. I loved the racing experience and the NHKA group, but at 240 lbs. I broke a lot of kart parts. After totaling my last kart, I decided to invest in a Legends car.”
The road course at NHMS has long straight aways’, hair pin turns, inclines and declines, so for the race teams setting up the race cars is a lot of work. Though Patrick has quite a bit of experience racing on the road course. “Time, team and the people in the paddock. Between NHKA, The 24 Hours of Lemons and The Moat Mountain Road Course Series, I have quite a few laps on the track, but I’m still learning the course. In five years on the track, I’ve been happy with my line through turn three only a handful of times.
I’m grateful to have Bob Weymouth and Jeff Gaudette set up the car.
I’m lucky to have a team that pulls together when there’s a problem.
When teammate Luke Hiebert’s motor blew, Luke, Steve and myself, were able to replace the motor in an afternoon due the support of the track and other people in the paddock. The competition on the track is transitioned into help and support off the track.”

Lee, NH – The Granite State Pro Stock Series invaded the Lee USA Speedway on Friday night, with some 30 teams filling the infield pit area in preparation for the night’s racing action. Three heats, a consolation round, and the 100-lap main event were on the card for the GSPSS, with the weekly Late Model Sportsmen, Hobby Stocks, and Ironmen filling out the program.
Lee’s regular NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions put on an entertaining show for the fans, with Groton, MA driver Geoff Rollins making his first trip to victory lane in 2014 in the Prime Storage and Warehouse Late Model Sportsman 30-lap main event.
Fresh off a heat win earlier in the night, Ray Dinsmore of Alfred, ME broke out to the early lead, but he was quickly knocked off the point by rookie contender Mark Parenteau of Groveland, MA, who took the lead on lap three aboard the Brian House entry.

NASCAR’s problems of not selling tickets and dropping TV ratings is a situation that just has to be solved. Forget the excuses that all of sports world-wide are suffering with deficits due to a global ailing economy. Just because Brian France was able to get a huge increase over the previous contracts starting in 2015, it does not mean the problems are solved. That increase TV money is what is holding NASCAR together. But for how long? There’s a cliche in the rough and tumble business world. “Don’t tell me what you did for me yesterday. What are you going to do for me today,” say the captains of global industry.
We can’t believe those TV rights contracts don’t contain a performance clause that are tied to increased TV ratings! It’s time for NASCAR’s Brian France to get going. Let’s talk about Brian’s job performance review by the fans. We have seen reports on the social media that Brian is not held in high esteem by the folks who buy the tickets and are not watching the races on TV.

Emily Parkard
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt – Determined to put the previous finish from last week in the Vermont State Late Model Championship race at Thunder Road behind her, Emily Packard went out and drove her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels Ford to a third place finish in the second race of the 4 race championship battle.
“We had a great run and a great race,” Packard said, “The car was really fast and we were impressed with how well it ran tonight.” The night began with her starting in the back (7th) in her heat race, Packard found herself held up for a couple laps, but was able to move her way forward. At the end of the 10 lap heat, Packard finished in the 4th position (with a plus three), which safely got her in the race and a decent starting position for the feature. “We got held up a little bit in the beginning, but we were able to maneuver past them,” said Packard, “We caught the third place car right there at the end, and with a few more laps could have had at least one more spot, but I am happy with the starting position it gave us.”
