Derek Griffith is PASS ace at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park
Second straight PASS National Championship Series win for Hudson, New Hampshire driver
Thompson, Connecticut – Derek Griffith of Hudson, New Hampshire nailed down his first Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park victory in impressive fashion, outrunning two-time PASS North Super Late Model Champion DJ Shaw to the checkered flag in the Icebreaker 100 Sunday afternoon.
Griffith, who had been a runner-up in Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Super Late Model competition in the past, started from fifth position. Aboard his LCM Motorsports ride, Griffith battled Saturday heat race winners and early frontrunners Shaw and Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine before grabbing the race lead, which he would not relinquish.

PASS North Set To Begin Sunday At Thompson’s Icebreaker
NAPLES, ME (April 5) – After a long winter break, that has seen some venture south to compete, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model drivers from across New England and Canada are ready to tackle Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this weekend for the first race of 2018.
In addition to being the first action of the season for New England’s top short trackers, the 44th Annual Icebreaker also serves as the second race of the PASS National Championship Series. Following the first event held at South Carolina’s Dillon Motor Speedway in February, race winner, Derek Griffith, finds himself leading 5-Time PASS National Champion, Ben Rowe, by just two points heading to Thompson.

Eddie MacDonald opened last season’s PASS schedule with a victory at Thompson Motorsports Park’s Icebreaker and hopes to repeat that performance this Sunday, April 8 on the famed Thompson speedway. Eddie Mac will pilot the Dave Lemieux owned Pro Stock in as many as nine events with his sights set on an Icebreaker win.
“Racing at Thompson is always fun and you couldn’t ask for anything better than starting the season off competing in the Icebreaker,” said the Rowley, Mass. veteran racer. “Everyone is excited to get going this season and we have the car ready to go so it should be a lot of fun. EXIT Realty Beatrice Associates will be our main sponsor for this race and we are thankful to Derek Beatrice for all his help. We had a great car last year in the opener to get the win so the goal we have is to get another victory to start the season. “

The 28th New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 will now kick off the ACT Late Model Tour season on Sunday, April 22. (Alan Ward photo)
Waterbury, VT – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Lee USA Speedway officials announced today that the 28th New Hampshire Governor’s Cup has been postponed due to lingering snow from the past winter. The event has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 22 at 1:15pm.
The card of racing will remain the same, with the ACT Late Model Tour going 150 laps in their 33rd season opener. Lee’s R&R Steel Late Model Sportsmen and the Northeast Classic Lites will also be in action.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road is getting set to open its 59th season of racing on Sunday, April 29 with the Community Bank N.A. 150 for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT). The 20th edition of the event has teams and fans buzzing as they prepare for another year atop Quarry Hill.
Racers from all across the Northeastern U.S. and Quebec are expected for the event that has served as the traditional season opener since 1999. With the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also on the card, a huge field of race cars is anticipated.

Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour is just over two weeks away from opening its 2018 season at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 15with the annual New Hampshire Governor’s Cup. While defending ACT Late Model Tour Champion Scott Payea enters the opener as the title frontrunner, a number of other drivers are preparing their own run at the $10,000 champion’s purse.
Williamstown, VT’s Jimmy Hebert is one of the early favorites to challenge for the 2018 championship. Hebert returned to the full ACT Late Model Tour schedule this past season in his #58VT Hebert Excavation Chevrolet and finished fourth in the final standings. He has been a contender throughout his career and will look to put it all together for the 10-race schedule.
