1000-DSC_8443Vallee-Jonction, Quebec – Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burthers race team traveled north of the international border this past weekend to one of Doiron’s favorite tracks, the tight ¼ mile bullring Autodrome Chaudiere for the Pro All Stars Series North “Frameco 150.” After overcoming many adversities, Doiron finished the night with the runner up trophy.

The eventful day started in practice, when the oil pump went sour in the 73 machine, forcing the team to retire their backup car. Doiron stepped into the backup car for DJ Shaw just in time for the final practice session to get a few laps in the car. Getting a feel for the newly numbered 68 car in the heat race, Doiron missed the transfer spot by one position, forcing him to the consolation race.

In the early going, Hebert muscled by polesitter Eric Chase in the outside lane to gain the lead, bringing Helliwell in tow along with Tiverton, RI’s Ray Parent. The trio split from the field, setting a blistering pace that sent the leaders into lap traffic before lap 30 of the 100-lap event. Meanwhile, Hoar quietly worked his way from his 13th starting position into the top five.
