Charlotte, NC 7/16/12-After dodging rain showers during the day’s practice session luck finally ran out on PASS South Series officials as showers came and washed out the afternoon’s qualifying session. This set up a rare occurrence for PASS South competitors to take the green based on current series points standings, and scraped the normal redraw of the top ten qualifiers to take the green flag. This put leader Brandon Ward on the pole with second place man Kyle Grissom to his outside for the initial start. Ward picked up right where he left off at Anderson two weeks earlier taking command of the lead on lap one.

First PASS win for second generation racer – Darveau wires PASS Mod main
Scott Dragon drove by Kelly Moore on lap 113 of Saturday night’s PASS North Southern Maine Motors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and checked out to earn his first career PASS super late model victory. Trevor Sanborn made a successful return to Beech Ridge, finishing second . Kirk Thibeau finished third despite an electrical issue that dropped him back in the field on several occasions. Moore hung on for fourth and Cassius Clark raced home in the fifth position.
It looked like it might be Moore’s night much of the way in a race that was short on cautions and long on great battles throughout the field. Bill Rodgers led the first sixteen laps before Moore took over and the veteran stayed out front for nearly two thirds of the laps. But the torrid pace seemed to take a toll on his ride. DJ Shaw challenged Moore for the first hundred laps until Dragon took up the challenge, making his move on Shaw on a restart. Fifteen laps later the was out front, delivering the first PASS win for the team.

“It took this team a long time to get their first win in this series, but I’m sure glad it didn’t take as long for them to get their second,” stated an excited Brandon Ward from Anderson Motor Speedway victory lane. ”This win was huge because it gave us the points lead and it also gives us an automatic starting position for the All American 400 in October. Joey Doiron Racing: PASS North Series
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Preview
Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, returns to the site of his first career PASS North Series victory for the SouthernMaineMotors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 7. Doiron dominated the season-opening 150-lap event at Beech Ridge back in May, and the driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Scarborough Downs Chevrolet is eager to get back to the .333-mile oval. Doiron is third in the series standings through six races – one of only three drivers to post five Top-10 finishes this season – and would like to contend for the victory Saturday to help close the 34-point gap to the current point leader. On a similarly-sized race track at Canaan Fair Speedway last weekend, Doiron was disappointed to finish 10th and is hoping to rebound from that at Beech Ridge.
